Protests: Roads to US consulate still blocked

The containers on the roads to US consulate – Davis Road and Egerton Road – still in place.

LAHORE: On Saturday, roads leading to the US consulate remained blocked with containers. More than a 100 containers had been acquired by the city police to block major roads on Friday. Most of the obstructions were removed late on Friday night but the containers on the roads to US consulate – Davis Road and Egerton Road – remained in place. A large number of armed police personnel also stood on guard. Many shops in Garhi Shahu and near Shimla Pahari remained shut. Rai Tahir, the Operations DIG, said that extra security would be continued at the US Consulate till “things settle down”.
