To increase awareness on prevention of breast cancer and its early diagnosis, NUST Science Society, in collaboration with Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, held its annual awareness session on Wednesday, said a press release.

Dr Ayesha Riaz, an expert nutritionist at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, briefed the participants on the cancer’s growth process, risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnostic, screening tools and treatment options. A major focus of the session was on the significance of nutrition, with the speaker stressing on the importance of a balanced and healthy diet.

“Breast cancer is not a taboo, it is a disease,” she said, as she regretfully discussed the hesitance of women to come forward with this disease.

An exciting part of the programme was a puzzle designed to test the knowledge gained by participants, with special prizes for those who gave correct answers.
