Rawat land case: LHC sends case to trial court

The bench says the trial court will decide which the most competent authority to investigate the case is.

RAWALPINDI:

Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Rawalpindi division bench on Wednesday advised NAB to file an application in the relevant trial court for a decision on shifting the case regarding a 1,401 kanals of land in Rawat, to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The bench comprising Justice Shahid Hamid and Justice Mehmood Maqbool Bajwa said the trial court will decide which the most competent authority to investigate the case is. It also ordered the sealed record of the case be sent to the special anti-corruption court.

It may be recalled that the division bench had reserved the decision after the lawyers for the parties completed their arguments during the last hearing. Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, counsel for Bahria Town Malik Riaz Hussain, had emphasised that it did not seem appropriate that the anti-corruption establishment of the Punjab had sent this case to the court.
