Too little, too late: Govt turned down SITE’s request for fire station

KARACHI:

SITE MD Rashid Solangi told the tribunal that they had sent a proposal to the federal government in 2007 to set up a fire station in SITE where around 2,400 factories are located, but the request was turned down.

“If we had our fire station, it would have minimized the loss,” he said, referring to the Baldia factory blaze in which 258 people were killed. It took the fire brigade more than an hour to reach the spot.

this is ridiculous. a major industrial area with no fire station or substation. the politicians continue fighting each other for power, influence, and money on the local, provincial, and national level and nobody cares about the people. This is very shameful.

Who so ever refused should be brought to task.
