ATC acquits 3 terrorism suspects due to lack of evidence
Rana Masood Akhtar was the ATC special judge for this case.
Two of the accused, Rehmat Gul and Noor Jehan, were accused of carrying out an attack on a United Nations World Food Program office on October 5, 2009 in Islamabad. Around four people were killed in this attack.
In another case, Gul, Jehan and Jamshed Khan were accused of an attack on Naval Headquarters in Islamabad on December 2, 2009. Only the suicide attacker was killed in the attack, while four to five people were injured.

Army courts are much better for these guys because prosecution dept. is failed to do it's job.
Unfortunately in Pakistani courts evidence is not accepted against guilty. Ask the Indians.
these guys should have a trial in army courts ....... or an "encounter" for that matter to get things done more efficiently??
The independent judiciary is fully dedicated and involved in prosecuting the biggest cases like memo that is not written and the memo that was written but not signed or dated. They are focused on dual nationality cases and when the renunciation was filed, fee paid and approved. They are dedicated to Prince Arsaln's protection and his family's trips. They have no time to conclude Baluchistan killings case, Asghar Khan's case or try even a single terrorist and punish. The independent judiciary is scared of all criminals and killers and chasing white collared elected leaders.
Looks like only person ever convicted of terrorism in Pakistan was Sarabjit Singh 25 years back who claims that he is not Sarabjit Singh. How did Pakistan court find evidence acceptable in his case?
Pakistan government will not change the law of evidence until Hafiz Saeed and others, accused of 26/11 terrorism in Mumbai are declared innocent and set free.

@ shahid, I agree with you completely military tribunal courts are probably the best solution to handle these criminals, I don’t care if it is our war or not, but if they are killing Pakistanis then they are enemy of the states and should be treated like such. AZAD ADLIA has failed us.
Police Encounter is the best solution for these cases; take no prisoners.
No judge will convict a terrorist unless he is given safe passage to settle in the US for himself and his family.
As always, dismal performance by the prosecution deptt. The judge has no choice when the government's lawyer (prosecutor) does no homework and brings no vidence to the court.

And the CJ is yet too busy to take notice of how bad the system right under his own nose is. He would rather stick his nose in high profile stuff and also in things that could save his son and save money for his own retirement too...lol
What is the point of having a judiciary that has more interest in an elected government?
Establish military tribinuals courts not civilian courts.The country is at war and need extreme measures in extreme circumstances.

We need to re-think our criminal justice procedure and incorporate modern methods of investigations rather than just relying on eye-witnesses.
Only if the SC had shown the same zeal as it has shown with the Letter Issue.

What is "evidence" to these Judges if even the Lal Masjid walay terrorists who were on countless videos inciting hate and violence were let loose by them?

Why waste money and time on such cases when prosecution is not interested in presenting evidence to convict such terrorists?
