The Ministry of Food Secutity should be questioned as to why the necessary steps have not been undertaken to prevent these yearly floods, as water logging is the major problem in these areas today. As such agricultural practices should have been adapted to avoid prevalent problems. Miani Forest was waterlogged when the railway system was planned. German foresters were engaged by the British, who then planted Eucalyptus. Once the water table reached the anticipated level, these trees were removed, roots included and suitable trees raised to feed the locomotives.

Is the ministry sleeping?
