CJP, son, former PM named as witnesses in Malik Riaz contempt case

The attorney general has also submitted evidence besides the list of witnesses in the case.

ISLAMABAD: The prosecution in the Malik Riaz contempt of court case has submitted a list of witnesses naming Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chuadhry and former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Express News reported on Saturday.

The list of witnesses carries the names of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudry, his son Arsalan Iftikhar, Registrar Faqeer Hussain, Suleman Ahmed, former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gillani and Ahmed Khalil.

The evidence comprises of transcript and a compact disk containing a recording of Malik Riaz's press conference.

Talking to Express News, Riaz's lawyer Dr Abdul Basit said that if the name of chief justice and his son is not present in the list of witnesses, he would request that they are called as witnesses in court.

According to sources, the attorney general has also submitted evidence besides the list of witnesses in the case.

Malik Riaz is just trying to make a mockery of this case. The CD of his press conference is available which he cannot refute.
