Ensuring safety procedures: PHCBA asks govt to check all factories

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) on Friday held factory owners and the government responsible for the deaths from fire in the factories of Lahore and Karachi. They asked for the government to take stern actions and also compensate the legal heirs of the victims. In a resolution passed by PHCBA, members said concerned government functionaries, social security officials and civil defence were failing to perform their duties. They demanded the government conduct a comprehensive survey of all the factories to check whether sufficient safety measures had been taken. The PHCBA also condemned the killing of ten Pakhtun labourers in Dasht area of Balochistan and called it an act of ‘brutality and genocide’.
