Terrorism: Girls’ school damaged, CD shop blown up in two explosions

Militants planted the explosive at the boundary wall of the school.

A government-run primary school was bombed in Lond Khwar village near Mardan while militants blew up a CD shop in Dagai village of Swabi District on Friday.


Fazal Subhan, an official of Lond Khwar Police, said that at around 12:30am, unidentified militants detonated explosives at a girls primary school in Saeedabad, adding that militants planted the explosive at the boundary wall of the school. As a result, two classrooms, the verandah and the boundary wall of the building were completely destroyed. The police registered an FIR against unidentified militants.

Meanwhile, an explosive device planted in a CD shop went in Dagai village of Swabi. An official of Kalu Khan Police said that around 4:00am, a low-intensity bomb went off at Noordad’s CD shop, adding that the area where the explosion occurred is situated on the boundary line of Swabi and Mardan districts.

The official said that they were not sure whether it was militant activity or someone planted the explosive device out of personal enmity with the shop owner Noordad. An FIR has been registered.

On July 23, three CD shops were destroyed by militants with explosive materials in Baja village of the district, while on September 2, a CD centre was blown up in Par Hoti area of Mardan.
