Lewis Hamilton is said to be ‘edging closer’ to signing to a contract with Mercedes and McLaren ‘now have no better than a 50-50 chance’ of convincing the 2008 world champion to sign a new deal with them, according to Sky Sports.

“McLaren’s latest offer to Hamilton to extend his contract, which expires at the end of the current campaign, is understood to be worth considerably less than his existing £15million-a-year terms,” newspapers have reported.

“By contrast, Mercedes are desperate to make Hamilton the linchpin of their expanding involvement in Formula One and have offered to match his current deal, while bonuses could push the sum towards £60 million over three years.

[In my opinion i think Mclaren as lost respect for Lewis Hamilton i think he should leave for at least 2-3 yrs and gain their respect again.

Thanks Tony
