He was briefing the media in Islamabad about the shortlisted names of potential candidates for the caretaker prime minister post that opposition was sending to the political parties so they could “reflect upon them, form opinions and send the list back in order of priority”.
The opposition leader said that if one party stood opposed on any one name, it would be removed from the list after forming a consensus.
He said that only seven names were being sent right now following PTI’s “backtracking”.
"They submitted the names but then said it had not been done with a party consultation," said Nisar.
If they did not consult, it is their fault; not ours," he added.
“If they accept that they have sent these names (which they did, we have a record), then we will add these two names from PTI and make it a list of 9,” he said, adding, “We will add that this is PTI's proposal.”
Nisar further said that those who talked about bringing a revolution should not be backtracking on their own statements.
Nisar confirmed that Sardar Ataullah Mengal was among the shortlisted, as was “one female leader of the lawyer community”. He said that two were former Supreme Court judges and the remaining three were politically affiliated people.
He said that he had contacted other political parties to inform them that the list was being sent.
“I have spoken to Syed Munawwar Hassan, Aftab Sherpao, Saleem Saifullah, Mir Hasil Khan Bazenjo Liaquat Baloch and others in this regard,” said Nisar.
Adding to the list of political parties to whom the names would be sent, he said that the Sunni Tehreek and two religious parties which were politically affiliated would also be included.
He said that after discussing with his party, he would suggest two names as well.
“We want names to which everyone agrees,” said Nisar. “If the government agrees. well and good; if not, then the Election Commission will decide itself,” he said, adding that the ECP would surely pick names the public could trust.
Earlier, the PML-N had put together its list of potential candidates for the caretaker prime minister post in a meeting that was chaired by Nawaz Sharif in Lahore.

@Asad Shah: As far as sheikh rasheed is concerned he is not PTI member and for your kind information PTI graph is not going down. "Even you are ready to support a non visionary party then I must say best of luck. if you are willing to destroy the future of your coming generation just due to your likness of PML-N then no one can change their and yours fate. Come in Turkey and have a look how Turkey has revived in last 5 years under the leadership of visionary leader you will be forced to consider the performance of PML-N. In spite of your support to PML-N you have not answered the questions I have asked from you. As faf as ISI support to PTI is concerned PML-N has playedd this game in 96-97 by blaming him a jewish agent and now you PML-N is blaming that ISI is supporting them. even if you are right who cares? I am only concerned with the economic and social developments of Pakistan.
@roadkashehzada: airports, seaports, PSO privatization ur joking. For ur kind information PSO was revived during Msharraf regime. Gawadar was developed by musharraf regime and which airport was built my PML N? PSO is still government owned entity.
The full credit goes right now to PMLN for showing sincerIty and maturity..Credit should be shared once all parties including PPP agree on a nuetral set up and an honest person is chosen as interim PM.Just like the Chief election commissioner .Thanks PMLN for leading the way.Looks like PTI is getting worried that it wont get a chance to cry foul once it looses. Anyway they have squandered all their chances by being tooooo PMLN centric. They should have gone for whole Pakistan and won.But narrow thinking , compromises and lack of bold decisions doomed it before it could florurish. What a waste.
Tauseef Well many comments after yours are telling the development taken place in PML-N tenure. And even if I admit that PML-N has no vision that does not mean that i support the pti. I think Pml-N is the best option I've got there. As if IK has a lot of vision. His party gained momentum because of turncoats of the establishment and now its going down because the turncoats who were political orphans till PTI rise are now going baq to their parent parties. Ik always used to say that we will not allow status co, politicians in the party but later he did. And my friend what do you have to say about Sheikh Rashid? Tabdeeli aa rai hai Sheikh Rashid ke saath????? Hahaha joke of the century
Please check this video, this will clarifyall the points

Justice Rana Bhagwandas will be my choice because it is time that some one from minority comes in as a PM and above all his record is impeccable, he is respected all over the Sub Continent, he is capable and even handed and respect the democratic process. My advice to Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Please grow up and don't bash PTI for your selfish reasons.
Here is my list Sardar Mengal Asma Jehangir Mahmood Khan Achakzai Justice Rana Bhagwandas Justice Wazihuddin
@umer PMLN voted syed saeed zaman sidiqqi in presidential election not zardari.Get your facts correct buddy. get some knowledge about history, politics than call yourself educated youth of PTI. Only syllabus books doesnt make you labeled yourself ""educated".
@touseef: i think motorway, nuclear, airports, sea ports, ghazi brotha, digital telephone exchanges, privatisation of banks, PSO and other white elephants is more than wht u can expect in 2 less than half terms.
@Abdullah... actually it's too mature and near to its death (self-destruction), iA
It is better to avoid the name of "one female leader of the lawyer community.” Everybody knows her stance on judiciary and Pak army.
@ Asad Shah Where did PML N show that it is mature ? when they supported PPP for 4 years or when they voted for Zardari to become president ? Not resigning from National Assembly and Punjab Assembly to have a say in caretaker setup while nation suffer terribly, thats real mature!! Even PML N know that if they resign the next caretaker setup can not be made without their say or PTIs say, they are not resigning so that can keep on looting Pakistani nation. Pathetic really pathetic !!!
Former supreme court judges? No way... I would rather trust a retired general (reluctantly) than a judge.
ET is becoming more like PMLN tribune.
This man Nisar doesnt know any thing else, but to lie and to acuse others... He has every thing on the record with him against every one but he never shows that record. What is that record where is that record, why he doesnt show it if it exist......He is still living in nineties.. grow up nisar and be a man......
Yes, We BELIEVE you Mr. Nisar - 100%. Just like everything you have said so far has been a TRUE!!!! [sarcasm]
Give us a break!. He wants us to believe that PMLN will bring someone in power in AGREEMENT with PTI...:)
@Asad Shah: My dear this is not the case.We gave power to PML N three times in Punjab & 2 times in whole Pakistan. what is the result?. People have burnt in Lahore in leather factory. can you tell me what PML N has done regarding fire prevention in last 10 years?. In 2008 Punjab got super bumper wheat crop government's resources were not enough to acquire it. can you tell me how many silos punjab government has built to date? and there is a long list of problems that this province is facing but PML N has spent our 10 years but still same conventional problems. this is because PML(N) has no vision.
That was the insidious plan hatched between the handlers of IK and Zardari; build pressure on PML-N through Gilani and IK and make the latter resign. The objectives would have been a caretaker set-up of the choice of PPP and its axis of evil and an ensuing rigged elections which would have wiped off PML-N and handed a cooked up mandate to PTI which would go on to become a part of the next coalition government headed by Zardari and PPP.
Alas, الٹی ہو گئی ساری تدبیریں
at least leave politics for 1 day of mourning for the dead who lost their lives in fires.
Ch Nisar, Bring that record in front of public! Stop bashing PTI on every single issue, this show how petty minded PMLN is....If PTI supported justice G Ibrahim, why wouldn't they support the name of the care taker PM. Just lame excuses from Nisar to malign PTI (voice of people)
I think PML-N is the only mature party left. Pti wanted them to resign!!!! What would've happened if they did? PPP would've easily installed their puppet caretakers. This is one example there are many to prove that pti is a very immature party and this country cannot be left in the hands of amateurs.
@ Affan dawood
what has fire got to do with politics?
PML-N showing that it is a mature party
I dont know why there is still political Bashing going on even after the horrible incident of Karachi and Lahore . . .My request to political parties is to avoid this. . .
