LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought replies, in 10 days, from the chief secretary and the health secretary for appointing a new principal to the Fatima Jinnah Medical College despite a stay order of the court. The court issued the order on a contempt petition moved by Professor Dr Nazifa Ahmad of the college’s pathology department. She said that she was the senior most professor at the college and eligible for the post of principal but was overlooked by the government. She had approached the LHC and on June 27 the court had stayed the appointment of a new principal. The respondents, however, had appointed Dr Fakhar Imam as the college principal on July 12, she said.
