ISLAMABAD:

The Margalla police on Wednesday said they busted five suspected robbers and seized weapons from their possession. However a sixth suspect, mentioned in the FIR but not in the news release, managed to get away.

This suspect, Malik Muhammad Ishaq, was already in police custody and his arrest was never registered, a police official told The Express Tribune on the condition of anonymity. Ishaq was arrested last month from F-7 and handed over to the Margalla police; however, officials of the Margalla police, including SHO Hussain Lassi, denied the arrest on August 29.

In the statement released on Tuesday, police said they acted on a case against six suspected robbers and picked up five of them from G-9 Markaz. The suspects confessed to breaking into a woman’s house in Sector F-8/4 and committing robberies in Lahore and Karachi, besides the twin cities. No police official from Margalla zone, including the SHO, could be reached for comment.
