Ge pakistan: Sarim Sheikh appointed CEO

The focus of GE Pakistan is on water, energy, healthcare and transportation areas in the country.

Sarim Sheikh, who served as chairman of the Shell Group of Companies in Pakistan until recently, has now been appointed president and chief executive officer of General Electric (GE) Pakistan, says a statement on Wednesday.


His appointment becomes effective from August, the statement added.

Sheikh attended the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and holds an MBA from the London Business School, according to his profile on LinkedIn – a professional networking website.

GE arrived in Pakistan with the country’s independence and has had a direct presence through its subsidiaries since 1980. GE has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government to develop Pakistan’s energy resources to meet the projected demand of 54,000 megawatts by 2020, the statement said. The focus of GE Pakistan is on water, energy, healthcare and transportation areas in the country.
