PML-Q, PML-F, NPP MPAs to sit in opposition if Sindh LG ordinance not repealed
Representatives of the three political parties said they had reservations over the local government ordinance, for which official notification has not been sent to them as yet.
PML-F MPA Jam Madad Ali, while briefing the media appealed to the government, on behalf of the people and the elected representatives, to repeal the ordinance, saying it was “unacceptable and would not be accepted under any circumstances.”
“This ordinance is [equal to] fraud with the people and coalition partners,” he said, adding that they had not been taken into confidence over the promulgation of this ordinance.
“If this was beneficial for the people, it should have been passed in the light of day,” said Jam Madad Ali, adding that they had to get their hand on a copy of the ordinance “unofficially”.
“We found out that more changes have been made in this [ordinance]; this copy has 160 pages, we found out there are 300 pages now,” he said, adding that even now, changes were being made to it.
Appealing as elected MPAs, he asked the government to immediately give them a copy of the ordinance which contained all changes and to keep them in the loop so they could tell the people how “Sindh was being traded”.
He also added that parts of the ordinance contained text from former president Pervez Musharraf’s 2001 ordinance.

What is wrong with one province and three systems? Throughout the world you have a separate system for the capital, big cities and smaller towns. The difference between urban and rural structure makes this necessary! New York City has a different status in New York state, the capital Albany has a different status and the rest of the areas have a different status. Karachi maybe five districts but it is one integrated city while Hyderabad and Matiari are two different cities.
The biggest five cities have been declared Metropolitan areas which is quite understandable.
As far as the manner is concerned, where were these parties when the Commissionerate system was restored by Ordinance?

PPP-MQM are distributing Sindh's cities and resources as if Sindh were their conquered or colonized land. Sindh has long history of democratic resistance against dictators. PPP-MQM alliance could not be-fool Sindhi nation, we are NOT against local body system but in the garb of local Govt, our cities are being grabbed from us, our fundamental right over our land, resources and culture are being denied within our own Urban cities. If such is as LG system, no one will accept it. People of Sindh will challenge it through peaceful and democratic means.
Now this could only happen in Pakistan, where you dont have to argue madness because 30% of population is illiterate and 50% goes to madrassas where they learn only to create new sect of religion, and 20% are in dilemma that why have they spent thier time earning a degree. Because the Quota system and bribing allows possition to those who dont deserve it on merit basis. So if they prefer Commisioner system over Mayor system, its no big of surprise. They are all tuned to choose SELECTION over ELECTION. A commisioner would be selectable comodity, who would collect Bhutta of illelegal peddalers, prostitutes dens, wine shops, transport mafia, milk mafia etc etc... its big money involve here. A commisioner has no regard of populace welfare, since his term is secured only if he keeps his big boss (CM) happy. While if a Most corrupt Mayor is able to survive his term of 4 years some how, he still needs to refresh his mandate by election. last of all--
We want grass root devolution of power.
Good for them, at least there should be 10 member opposition in Sindh Assembly, since PPP and MQM equal 143 seats in Sindh Assembly.
They should all commit mass suicide. That will really send a clear message.
In many developed parts of the world, big cities are govern by metropolitan authorities and rural areas are govern by their local bodies. What is wrong with this approach? is it because they now have less funds to eat?

These parties want to avoid local government so people are denied power at grass root level and they can keep ripping them off. These people were the ones who supported Musharraf's local government which gave revenue, health, education and many other departments to City governments. So their opposition to the ordinance which is an excellent law is just to sabotage not for welfare of people.
