KARACHI: Sindh MPAs of Pakistan Muslim League – Functional (PML-F), National Peoples Party (NPP) and Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q), protesting against the SPLGO 2012, have decided to sit on the opposition benches in the Sindh Assembly if the ordinance is not repealed, Express News reported on Tuesday.

Representatives of the three political parties said they had reservations over the local government ordinance, for which official notification has not been sent to them as yet.

PML-F MPA Jam Madad Ali, while briefing the media appealed to the government, on behalf of the people and the elected representatives, to repeal the ordinance, saying it was “unacceptable and would not be accepted under any circumstances.”

“This ordinance is [equal to] fraud with the people and coalition partners,” he said, adding that they had not been taken into confidence over the promulgation of this ordinance.

“If this was beneficial for the people, it should have been passed in the light of day,” said Jam Madad Ali, adding that they had to get their hand on a copy of the ordinance “unofficially”.

“We found out that more changes have been made in this [ordinance]; this copy has 160 pages, we found out there are 300 pages now,” he said, adding that even now, changes were being made to it.

Appealing as elected MPAs, he asked the government to immediately give them a copy of the ordinance which contained all changes and to keep them in the loop so they could tell the people how “Sindh was being traded”.

He also added that parts of the ordinance contained text from former president Pervez Musharraf’s 2001 ordinance.

(voice of sindh) | 12 years ago | Reply @Khalq e Khuda: karachi is big city, more than 15 million population is there. it should have been divided again in 5 districts rather than 18 towns. districts would be more suitable as compare to towns. one district means one nazim will rule the whole city. the demography of karachi is too complex, it comprises sindhi, muhajar, pashtoons, balochi, memon. etc. so smaller units will help people to get the interaction with their districts nazim, as east, south, north, central and malir. thanks.

PPP has opened this pendora box, for postponing the general election as far as they could. plus, assuring the alliance of mqm in up comming elections. ppp is being blackmailed by the mqm since 2 years and so. as far as metropolitans are concerned, they have named 5, why dont 23 metropolitans would be made. its no harm in it. karachi should be the metropolitan, bcz its requirement of an state to be the metropolitized is that, it should possess the 10 million or more than that population. as in india, mumbai, kolkata, and delhi. hyd, larkana, mirpurkhas, and sukker. are just mere cities and can't come under the justification. due to those rural population will be neglected completely. DEAR ITS A RACE OF FUNDS,........ NOTHING ELSE.
