CHARSADDA:

A teenage girl was killed and her sister was injured when four armed assailants opened fire at them in Charsadda Court on Monday.

The widow of Sahib Shah, a resident of Purdil Khan Kallay, told the police that she along with her two daughters, Sameera and Salma, came for a case hearing and were sitting in front of the sessions judge’s room when the accused Bashira, Rafiq, Shakir and Wazir opened fire at them. Sameera was killed on the spot and Salma was injured, while their mother narrowly escaped.

An official of the city police said that the security guards at the court managed to get hold of Shakir and Wazir, while the other two escaped. The accused have been jailed at the city police station.

Initial investigations show that Sameera’s brother Masood had eloped with Shakir’s daughter Reshma five months back. Three weeks ago, Shakir had killed Masood’s brother Abid and the deceased’s mother and sisters were at the court for the hearing into the murder case.

The accused have been charged for murder and attempted murder.
