KARACHI: The Pakistan women’s team will seek to hold sessions with former greats as part of preparations for the ICC World Twenty20 that starts later this month.

While the schedule of the training camp is yet to be finalised, the management is seeking sessions from the greats of the game for tips ahead of the tough assignment.

“Such sessions will be of great help,” team manager Ayesha Ashar told The Express Tribune. “Their presence does not only bring an improvement technically but it also is a great source to motivate the girls. We had sessions with the great Javed Miandad before and it helped them immensely.”

Meanwhile, the manager said the team will play a few practice matches during the training camp. However, she added the team was unlikely to get lectures from Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) psychologist Moenul Atiq.

Pakistan won a tri-nation event in Ireland, which also featured Bangladesh, before the team went down to England and The West Indies. However, the manager was satisfied with the team’s overall performance during the tour that also featured a century by Nain Abidi — the country’s first international ton.

“Our performance against England and West Indies improved. We gave a good fight to these teams and lost only after close contests. There were also remarkable individual performances like Nain’s  century and Asmavai’s [Iqbal] hat-trick.”

“The weather was very cold in England but it’ll be better in Sri Lanka so we’re looking forward to better results.”

The women’s competition will begin on September 26 with Pakistan playing their first match against England the following day.
