HEC to help UAF establish rose extraction plant

Assistance will help farmers realise benefits of value addition.

FAISALABAD:

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will provide help in the establishment of a rose extraction plant in Islamabad to the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF).

This assistance will help attract other universities and research institutions in the country in the pursuit, and promote an entrepreneurial culture for the benefit of the farming and business community.

Remarks to this effect were made by Nasir Ali Khan, HEC member operations and planning, Islamabad, while calling on the UAF Vice Chancellor Professor Doctor Iqrar Ahmad Khan on Saturday.

Nasir Ali Khan said that we have to switch from traditional farming to high-value crops, in order to fully realise the financial benefits of farming, and transfer these directly to rural communities.

He lauded the standard of research and innovation at the UAF, and termed it role model for other research and development institutions of the country.

On the occasion, Professor Doctor Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that various innovative and demand-oriented research solutions are being developed through the Business Incubation Centre of the UAF, in order to promote entrepreneurship in the agriculture and livestock sectors.

Earlier Nasir Ali Khan visited various research laboratories and projects run by the scientists of the UAF with Professor Dr Muhammad Jalal Arif, the university’s Principal Officer of Public Relations and Publications, and received a briefing regarding various innovative solutions developed at the campus by university scientists.
