Gul, in an exclusive interview to ANI, said that there was no scope of the talks as nobody in Pakistan believed in them. “This is being done under US pressure. There is no domestic acceptance for any peace talks with India, because Pakistanis don’t trust India one bit,” Gul was quoted as saying.
The former intelligence chief also expressed doubts over India’s intention on issues including Sir Creek, Siachen, Kashmir and Balochistan and maintained that no one other than only a few Pakistani traders, who will benefit from India getting the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status, believe in peace talks.
India in Afghanistan, Kashmir, Balochistan
Gul, during the interview, also claimed that India is fighting a proxy war in Afghanistan on behalf of the US. “Pakistan knows India’s intentions and it is not acceptable to us,” Gul was quoted in the ANI report.
He also lambasted India’s policy in Kashmir. “India has to accept that Kashmir is a disputed territory. What they are doing in Kashmir is not right, morally or legally. India is being used by the US as a bulwark in the region, and therefore, the pressure on the Pakistan Government to go easy on Kashmir. The conditions are such that Pakistan does not have much room for maneuver at this stage,” the report quoted Gul.
The former ISI chief further alleged that India was meddling “heavily” in Balochistan and affairs of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

@sabi: He must be addressing his co-operative groups
This man is absolute hater..He meant domestic acceptance is small neighbourhood or circle backed by crazy mullahs who are dreaming to grab the power once again like they did in Afghanistan...
Give this old lad a one way ticket to Papua New Guinea.
The Eco track deplomacy is a type of fast track diplomacy . Try it before they start to use it . Gen Gul may switch to it .
Gen is correct when he says the mistrust of last 64 year will be there but we don't need domestic acceptance in place of a forced acceptace first now , Gen Gul your formations are being well exposed and now it won't work against the determination of the world community , Better sink your head in the sand .
Karnel saheb,
Are you afraid that if India and Pakistan make peace, your war business would be destroyed?
Glad to read the comments here from Pakistani friends. If such fanatic poeple at both sides can be kept under control India and Pak can have lasting Peace and friendship. Its when we peaceful citizens sit silently these fanatics take over on either side and problem start between India and Pak.
Cheers.
@Webwiz, after ages, i am hearing something truthful from Pakistan, in case you are from Pakistan. Fact is, geographical boundaries wont be changed anymore. Some elements in Pakistan may like it or not but Kashmir wont be parted from India. Sooner you accept it the better it is. History stands witness that India has never forced a war on Pakistan but have been thrust upon four times, one even in the garb of peace talks. Peace talks are fine for a mutually respectable relations and peaceful co existence. Trade> if you like to do, you are most welcome...India would like to enhance ties but wont be foolish to be cheated once again. Long live Pakistan, long live India.
@andleeb (Ottawa,Canada): Living in Ottawa and asking your countrymen to starve and live in darkness. How very convenient. Showing ultra patriotism with nothing to loose personnaly.
We are giving this mam far more importance than he deserves. He is a relic of the past with his fossilized mind stuck in 1980's. His world view is totally irrelevant in present times. PERIOD.
@Khan: 600 consulates in Af-Pak? Thats hilarious : I didnt know India had that many consulates in all of the world. You Pakistanis do like living in a dream world, don't you?
Mr. Hamid Gul, I am a Pakistani and I want peace with India and prosperity for both countries. You dont speak for me!
Hamid Gul sahib is a true patriot. I support him and we should be willing to starve and live in darkness then to have anything to do with India.
Simple truth is that General does not care for the progress and prosperity of 18 million people.
@Falcon: "Its about time for him to get off the limelight. We are getting tired of this anti-India drama. Let the new Pakistan move forward to establishing better relations with all of its neighbors.
" Amen to that.
Quaid-e-Azam defeated mullahs and won a country now this mullah and company which has infact not accepted Pakistan, are eversince trying to destabalise Pakistan in the name of India
Pakistan always has one on the top, may it be sharifuddin pirzadah then nawabzada Nasrullah khan and currently H Gul.Commenality- Anti-Democracy.
Khan "India has never accepted Pakistan they are killing Pakistani throught TTP ?so what 600 consulates are doing near Pakistan and afghanistan boarder." Who told you that??
who listen you in Pakistan Mr Hamid Gul, whole Pakistan Hates you, please stay away from Peace Talks.
"...Pakistanis don’t trust India one bit,... Now, I am in a quandary. If I say, "trust me Indians don't trust Pakistanis one bit", I am not sure if the message is getting across because you don't trust me one bit to begin with. But, trust me, it is very true!
Hamid Gul is absolutely correct with his assessment.
Its about time for him to get off the limelight. We are getting tired of this anti-India drama. Let the new Pakistan move forward to establishing better relations with all of its neighbors.
"..India is fighting a proxy war in Afghanistan on behalf of the US"
So, India is planting IED, and sending suicide bombers to her own embassy as well as to US embassy. Fantastic, general. Now we all know why PAK lost all the wars with India.
Can you explain why PAK embassy and PAK Interest in Afghanistan have been consistently spared in all these years of "proxy war by India"?
This guy needs to take a nap and gather himself. He is so out of touch.
When H. Gul is so popular and knows what majority of Pakistani want, why did he never contest an election? What is he afraid of losing his security deposit? Are these disgruntled rightwing militant actors trying to pull another Kargil? Hate has not given Pakistan anything but misery and more of it would give more misery. It is not unexpected for such actors to be upset when the walls are coming down and bridges are built between two neighbors.
So why is Pakistan afraid of acting against TTP. You are just acting as a muse for them.
Agree with him, a common have no interest in unnatural friendship talks with India
and there is also NO domestic acceptance to support Taliban and poke your nose in Afghanistan. Let them sort out their problems.Pakistan did
n
t creat for ANY countryWhat do you mean by "domestic acceptance"?
big mouth............didn't he used ISI for politics thus breaking sacred oath taken during service..............
I wonder why the media even bothers taking the opinion of these 80's era relics of Zia's flawed Indian policy. The claims he makes are nothing new and reeks of victimhood. Hamid Gul (and the rest of the ISI) need to take stock of the current geopolitical realities and revise his world view. Without confidence building measures and a gradual de-escalation of destabilizing activity by both India and Pakistan this needle will not move. Also we should realize that unless we are willing to go all-out war with India and snatch Kashmir, they are not going to give it to us even after 100 years of friendship. So the best bet is to move forward on other fronts.
He seems a bit upset that his old buddies have been designated as terrorists.
Yaar in unkil ka kya problem hai, everytime fighting, killing, bloodshed. Learn something from your younger brother Colonel Umer Gul he is such a gentleman.
There is no domestic acceptance on both side of border except for few bleeding hearts. As on previous occassions these talks will again fail. Waste of time and money
First Hamid Gul failed to do his job and Pakistan was asleep while India swiftly captured 90% of glacier the remaining being a trench which no wants while he held prestigious positions and then speaks up against talks!
Pakistanis want peace mister, about time you stop forcing war on us!
Just another leftover of the mad mullah-military alliance.
