Farhan crashes out of Hong Kong Open

HONG KONG: Pakistan number two Farhan Mehboob’s campaign in the 2010 Hong Kong Open ended in the second round after a 43-minute clash where he was beaten in straight sets by Frenchman Gregory Gaultier.

Three-time finalist Gaultier defeated Mehboob 11-5, 11-7, 11-4, leaving no representation from Pakistan left in the Open after Amir Atlas was ousted in the first round.

Meanwhile, world number one Nick Mathew moved into the quarter-finals with a three-game win over Daryl Selby.

Second-seed Jenny Duncalf was the first one to reach the quarter-finals as she beat world number one Vanessa Atkinson in three rough games.
