Boxers off to China for Combat Games

A seven-member Pakistan boxing contingent left for China on Thursday to take part in the Combat Games.

KARACHI: A seven-member Pakistan boxing contingent left for China yesterday to take part in the Combat Games starting tomorrow in Beijing.

Pakistan are fielding five pugilists including Mohibullah (49 kilogramme), Muhammad Waseem (52kg), Tariq Zia (60kg), Amir Khan (64kg) and Nisar Khan (75kg) in the event that will conclude on September 4.

“It is be an important assignment for our boxers because it would not only carry world rankings points but will also give tough competition and practice to our boxers,” said the PBF Secretary Akram Khan.

According to Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), the tour expenses are being covered by the International Boxing Association (AIBA), which invited the boxers for the event which will showcase around 80 of the top boxers from around the globe.
