Murder trial: Court files charges against men who killed cop

The two men allegedly fired on the police, and as a result ASI Abdul Jabbar was killed.

The Anti-Terrorism Court-I formally filed charges against Junaid Khan and Atif Khan, who are accused of killing a police officer within the precincts of the Ferozabad police station on February 8, 2012.


According to the Special Public Prosecutor Abdul Maroof Maher, Junaid and Atif Khan had allegedly stolen a motorcycle from a man and were then stopped by the police. The two men allegedly fired on the police, and as a result ASI Abdul Jabbar was killed. The men were arrested at the site and the police seized weapons from them.

The First Information Report was filed under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code that deal with murder and common intention, read with section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. The court formally charged the men on Tuesday. The next hearing is scheduled for September 19 and the witnesses will be presented in the court on that date.
