KARACHI: As Eid approaches, the store racks are filling up with choices of kurtas for men to wear during the holiday. And while most men tend to delay their shopping until Chand Raat - here’s a handy trend forecast for you to pick what colours are key this Eid.

Khaadi:

The popular retailer stocks kurtas in its trademark khaddi fabric. According to a salesperson, “bright colours such as aqua green and electric blue are in. Younger clients mostly go for shades of pink and red, and even mustard yellow.”

However, he said that the flow of customers had not picked up as yet. Khaadi’s target market is men aged 18 to 40, and other key colours in their collection included beige, rust and brown.

Prices: Khaadi shirts cost between Rs1,750 and Rs2,600

Amir Adnan

At Amir Adnan, conventional colours dominated, with white, offwhite, beige, blue, rust, brown and shades of grey kurtas were in stock. The label’s signature embroidery, which has made it a favourite with grooms for sherwanis, is also a key feature of their Eid offerings.

Prices: Shalwar suits cost between Rs2,500 and Rs5,000

Cotton & Silk

Cotton & Silk, which has become very popular in Karachi, targets a younger segment of men - those aged between 20 and 30. The store offers kurtas in cream and shades of blue and grey. The striped shirts on sale were similar to those available at Khaadi.

Prices: Cotton & Silk’s shirts cost between Rs1,590 and Rs2,190

Ismail Farid:

Designer Ismail Farid’s store stocks shirts in darker shades of blues, grey and black. The store caters to men aged between 20 and 40, but appeals to those with a more creative sense of style, as the necklines and sleeves feature applique patterns.

Prices: Shalwar suits cost between Rs4,500 and Rs6,000

Humanity | 14 years ago | Reply Appeal 1: You already have enough outfits of all shades, shapes, and textures to pick from the array in your multiple closet and I am sure you are aware of the "less is more" idea. Choose to donate the money you would spend on the fashion fads to cover a couple of the flood victim. Be hip, be cool!
