PESHAWAR: A traffic police constable, Amanullah, and a Frontier Corps (FC) official, Zarshad, opened fire after a road accident led to a heated argument.

Amanullah, who was driving an Alto, shot and critically injured Zarshad. FC personnel then chased Amanullah and returned fire, leaving him wounded. “He was in plain clothes and it was revealed that he was a policeman after he was taken to the hospital,” said a police officer at the Faqirabad police station.

The incident created panic among commuters. Following the shooting, police and FC personnel rushed to the Faqirabad station.

“Both sides are taking a tough stance and it is really hard for us to calm them down,” said the official, who requested not to be named. They insisted that a case be filed against one side only.
