PTI’s economic policy

Published: September 3, 2012

ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to Abid Hasan’s article “PTI’s economic policy proposals: flawed and tried-and-failed” (September 3). The article is full of sweeping statements, which have not been substantiated with examples, reasons or alternative solutions. The article only says things like ‘this is wrong, that is flawed, it didn’t work, that is not possible, it failed, etc.”

Anyone could have written this type of article by simply negating everything the PTI proposed in its economic vision. Perhaps, there was no need to write the whole article because the title of the article says it all; the rest of the content in the article amounts only to repetition of the title again and again and again.

I agree with you there. Abid Hasan is a respectable figure but he took the easy route of criticizing. I have 2 problems with that. Firstly, substantiating evidence was not provided. Secondly, it did not have counter-proposals or advice. All in all, it seemed like more of a limelight seeking attempt than a humble scholarly task of improving economic policy based on insight.

I totally agree with you….. the only flaw critics can find in him is, he is giving us hope for better future in Pakistan……. is that hope is not good?
