International conference: ‘Maths plays key role in development’

There is no conflict between the HEC and the government: Federal Minister for Education

ISLAMABAD: Mathematics plays a significant role in development of science and technology and Pakistan cannot afford to undermine this reality. These views were expressed by Federal Minister for Education and Training Sheikh Waqas Akram while inaugurating the 13th International Pure Mathematics Conference at Quaid-i-Azam University on Sunday. The minister said there is no conflict between the HEC and the government and assured his full support to resolve HEC’s funding issue. Quaid-i-Azam University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Masoom Yasinzai said the basic concept behind the conference is to enhance understanding of mathematics and give an opportunity to mathematicians to exchange ideas at the international level.
