MANSEHRA:

The construction work on academic blocks of Hazara University (HU) would be soon completed, for which different donors are being approached.

This was stated by Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) Deputy Chairman Maj Gen. (retd) Asif Azim during a visit to the university on Friday.

He added that the paucity of funds was a key reason for delay in completion of construction projects launched by ERRA in different parts of earthquake-hit areas and suspension of work on the academic blocks of HU was among them.

However, he said, ERRA was in contact with different donor agencies for funding these projects.

He expressed the hope that after the approval of projects by the donors,  ERRA would complete these projects on preferential basis.

On the occasion, HU Vice Chancellor Sakhawat Shah told the deputy chairman that ERRA had started construction work on 10 academic blocks in 2005 but the project hit the snag in 2008.

Although 60% of construction work has been completed, ERRA has not resumed work on the suspended project.

The VC said that suspension of construction work on the academic blocks has exposed the students, teachers and researchers to difficulties. He stressed the need of early completion of the project.

The deputy chairman ERRA also visited the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, Rural Health Centre Shinkiari and Bafa and examined the reconstruction work.
