Responding to Australia's total of 248-9 in their allotted 50 overs, Jamshed and Ali stepped up for Pakistan, achieving the total in 43.4 overs.
Jamshed dispatched 11 deliveries to the boundary and hoisted two other out of the park as he struck 97 off 98 balls. Unsurprisingly, his knock also earned him the man-of-the-match award.
While he was dismissed agonisingly close to a century, Ali, who scored 59 runs, made sure Pakistan reached their total comfortably.
Captain Misbahul Haq also chipped in with 35 runs, capping his innings off by dispatching Maxwell to the boundary to score the winning runs.
Pakistan have now levelled the three match series 1-1.
Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal finished with 4-32 while Michael Hussey top-scored with a resolute 61.
Hussey added an invaluable 66 for the fifth wicket with George Bailey (39) and then a rapid 58 for the sixth with Glenn Maxwell who made a 27-ball 28 to give Pakistan a challenging target.
Hussey hit two sixes and a boundary off 72 balls before he was bowled by Ajmal in the 46th over.
Australia lost Mathew Wade to paceman Junaid Khan for seven in the second over, bowled after he was dropped by Umar Akmal a ball earlier. Khan finished with 3-52.
Warner, who played an uncharacteristically slow knock with his first run coming off 19th delivery, and Michael Clarke (37) slowly progresed the score to 74 before Pakistani spinners Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeex (1-28) took three quick wickets.
Hafeez dismissed Clarke while Ajmal accounted for Warner -- both trapped in front of the wicket. Warner hit two boundaries in his 24 which came off 68 balls.
Maxwell hit two towering sixes off Rehman in the 40th over, helping Australia to 31 in the batting power-play.
Junaid Khan returned figures of 3-52 off his nine overs.
Earlier, Australia won the toss and opted to bat in the second one-day international (ODI) against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
Left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman replaced all-rounder Shahid Afridi who pulled out from the team earlier during the day due to a back problem. Meanwhile, paceman Junaid Khan replaced Aizaz Cheema.
Australia, who lead the three-match series 1-0, remained unchanged from the first match.

@waqar: you want experience yet you advocate dropping misbah, who's been in the set up since 2002? what a confused man you are
I dont see any gloating Aussies writing in these columns now!
Pakistan must play Imran Farhat instead of Nasir Jamshed and Yonis should replace AzharAli. Pakistan badly needs some experience in their line up,that's how PCB slection commety thinks not me and also Misbah should retire and boom boom should be made captain,Misbah is too consistent and boring.
Saeed ajmal is such a star he is almost always instrumental in whatever Pakistan achieves. People tend to take it for granted at times, what Pakistan would do once Ajmal is gone? It's a terrifying thought really. Junaid khan is impressive, the most important thing is he uses his head and hes concerned about his performance all the time. Nasir was phenomenal. The kid has got shots man, cuts, pulls, drives, a good defense, hes good at pads. I hope he stays in the same frame of mind. Certainly a prospect. I don't like people bashing Azhar Ali, come on its not always fireworks. We need someone who does the job, who helps cross the finish line. I think Azhar brings fourth a very vital role and hes doing it right. Hafeez well i dont know he should learn how not to throw his wicket away all the frikking time. great bowler though :) Cheers Pakistan!
yaaaayyyyy.....
Is there any fast bowling talent left in Pakistan ?
Jamshed's innings should have caused nightmeres to quite a few in Pakistani camp .... Afridi, Imran Farhat, Yunus Khan, Shoaib Malik ....... all tried and tested oldies with below average performances lately .... no disrespect for them, but young blood is required now ...... Benefits: chance to find a better talent, improved ground fielding, less politics, less psychological pressure of AUSTRALIA (used as a generic term) and last but not the least, a chance to train the lot from the beginning regarding out-of-the-ground issues ...... well played guys ..... congrats
I saw, he really played well. Great young man.
Imran Farhat should now retire after jamshed's performance
wrong stats actually jamshed didnt played 152 balls! correct it.
News above need correction. Jamshed scored 97 off 98 balls in 152 mins.
Nasir Jamshed made 97 on 98 balls, not on 152 balls. Have some sense and read carefully when you are on CRICINFO site.
Correction ET:
Nasir Jamshed did not struck 97 off 152 balls, but he stuck 97 runs of 98 balls in 152 minutes. I think you did not even watch match properly.
As soon as younis khan, umar gul, afridi are out team is looking good.afridi should concentrate on ads, religious tv programs and joining tablighi jamat now.
97 of 98 balls in 152 minutes..correction please
Good win! Pakistan has really weak pace attack. Perhaps weakest in the history.
Congrats Pakistan, was so relieving seeing Pakistan as the winner, keep up the good work green shirts,We love You :)
Congratulations Pakistan. Keep this team for next match.
Jamshed struck 97 off "98" balls. correct it!
well played nasir jamshed .......
we have only junaid khan as a decent fast bowler. can't we try kids like zia ul haq from under19 team? i heard he bowls 140
It is about time to find young pacers. Current crop one more time is most disappointing. though Junaid took three wickets two of these were in the dying overs of the inning. Great job by Saeed Ajmal. Hafeez as usual was most economical. Kudos to Jamshed for an aggressive great inning.
Congrats! Well Played...
Yay buddy... Pakistan Zindabad!!
Why is Sohail Tanveer still in the team?? He is only good in substandard formats of IPL and SPL. He is no good for Pakistan
