Frontier crimes regulation: Crackdown against suspects of girls school explosion

DI KHAN:

The political administration of South Waziristan has started an operation against the Khujal Khel sub-tribe of Ahmadzai Wazir to find those involved in a school blast.

The administration said investigations will continue until the culprits who blew up the Government Higher Secondary School for Girls in Dabkot village of Wana sub-division South Waziristan are captured.

Five tribesmen from the Khujal Khel tribe were arrested in Tank. South Waziristan Political Agent Shahidullah Khan ordered the crackdown against the tribe under the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR).

The tribes’ business centres were also sealed. They will be not allowed to run transport and will be banned from obtaining fresh National Identity Cards and other privileges until they fulfil the demand of the administration and hand over the culprits who blew up the school.

The school for girls in Dabkot was destroyed in the earlier hours of Tuesday, August 21. Bombs had been placed in three different places, destroying class rooms and the boundary wall of the building. More than 500 female students attended the school.

No casualties were reported in the explosion.
