MIRPUR: Contractual IT teachers working public schools and colleges across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have demanded regularisation of their services. While talking to media on Thursday, the office bearers of AJK IT Teachers Action Committee said that hundreds of teachers had been performing their duties on basic pay scale for over five years. “Most of the teachers with post-graduation qualification working on contract have crossed the stipulated age limit. Resultantly, they are unable to appear in the requisite public service examination,” a member of the committee observed. The leaders of the contractual IT teachers appealed the AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed and ministers of education to order for regularising the services of contractual of IT teachers to end the prevailing sense of unrest among them. The committee has again warned of agitation if their demands were not met.
