Allen expected to meet Kayani on Thursday

ISPR says meeting between Kayani and Allen will review progress on border coordination measures.

RAWALPINDI:
Commander International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) General John Allen is likely to visit Pakistan on Thursday, August 30, said a press release by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.

According to ISPR, General Allen will meet Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and they will focus on reviewing the progress made in implementation of recently evolved border coordination measures and standing operating procedure.

General Allen had been holding meeting with Kayani recently in efforts to improve the cross border cooperation between Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nato troops.

Pakistan and the US had also signed a deal earlier this month governing Nato convoys travelling through Pakistan into Afghanistan until the end of 2015, well beyond the scheduled withdrawal of the bulk of Nato troops in 2014.
