RAWALPINDI: Commander International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) General John Allen is likely to visit Pakistan on Thursday, August 30, said a press release by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.

According to ISPR, General Allen will meet Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and they will focus on reviewing the progress made in implementation of recently evolved border coordination measures and standing operating procedure.

General Allen had been holding meeting with Kayani recently in efforts to improve the cross border cooperation between Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nato troops.

Pakistan and the US had also signed a deal earlier this month governing Nato convoys travelling through Pakistan into Afghanistan until the end of 2015, well beyond the scheduled withdrawal of the bulk of Nato troops in 2014.

I said the border cooperation initiative is going nicely. There has been an a lot of recent success in successfully targeting and killing high level terrorists on both sides of the border by ISAF/Afgan army and drones. It sure would be nice to see a push into FATA by the Pak army to squeeze them further.

hush | 11 years ago | Reply mr allen is visiting to gauge public opinion in army after designed attacks on kamra n border check posts.... where dozens of pakistani soldiers have been killed to mold army opinion in further cooperation and operations for sake of war on terror.... More blood coming pakistan way, be civilians or soldiers.
