According to Express News correspondent Muhammad Afzal, Malik had arrived at the airport to resolve the issue of C-130 flights, which were meant to carry foreigners and students who had come to spend vacations and have been stranded in Skardu due to the closure of roads and flights to the region.
The interior minister had promised that he would not leave Skardu until the issue is settled.
However, when more C-130 flights could not be scheduled, foreigners and students became aggressive. The police resorted to baton-charge in order to disperse the mob, however, the protestors were able to damage airport property, including window glasses and doors.

So apparently the students are still protesting, nothing has been arranged. But our news websites haven't updated this news :/
The protests started when Rehman Malik said that all flights were departing on schedule wit full load. There was no evidence to show that any flights were cancelled
ET - When you make a mistake in your reporting at least acknowledge your error. Mysteriously the Gilgit got changed to Skardu.
All the same - thanks for correcting the error
Seriously? Only a day ago he said that "those stranded will board the aircraft before me". Such hypocrisy.
Elementary Watson. Proof read the article again! Rehman Malik flew out of Skardu. Arrived in Skardu to resolve issues of foreigners and students who had come to spend vacations and have been stranded in Gilgit due to the closure of roads and flights to the region.
How did the student and foreigners land up in Skardu from Gilgit? Or were they
Come on ET...we expect better reporting than this.
The correct title for this Minister is Minister without portfolio as he is the mouth piece for interior, defense, aviation etc. in short he likes attention of the media and is point man for the President. Is he good for the country, well leave that for another day.
Are the foreginers from Afghanistan?
