Conflict of interest: CJP asked to drop Arsalan suo motu

LAHORE: A civil miscellaneous application has been filed in the Supreme Court asking Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to withdraw his suo motu notice of business dealings between his son Dr Arsalan Chaudhry and property developer Malik Riaz. Advocate Sarfraz Hussain filed the application for attachment to an already pending petition on the matter. He asked the chief justice to distance himself from the matter due to his personal interest in the case. He said that the suo motu notice taken by the chief justice had affected due judicial process.
