Development: Sept 30 deadline set for completion of 126 projects

District Coordination Officer Azmat Mahmood has set a September 30 deadline for completion of development projects identified by members of national and provincial assemblies.


The announcement was made on Monday at a meeting to review the pace of work on these projects.

The DCO was told that Rs279.6 million would be spent on completion of 126 projects in fiscal year 2012-13.

Of the five national assembly constituencies in Sargodha, development projects have been identified this year only in NA-68.


The meeting was told that 13 schemes in NA-68 would be completed at a cost of Rs40 million. Of these, eight are in Sahiwal tehsil, four in Shahpur and one in Sillanwali tehsil.

More than half of the remaining projects are in PP-37. Of these 53 projects, 48 will be completed by Sahiwal tehsil municipal authority (TMA) and five by the Local Government Department.

As many as 13 schemes each will be completed in PP-20 and PP-29.

In PP-20, eight schemes will be completed by the Buildings Department, two by the Highways Department and three by Bhalwal tehsil municipal authority. These schemes will cost Rs40 million.

In PP-29, all 13 schemes are road works to be completed by the Highways Department at a cost of Rs40 million. As much as 39.7 million will be spent on 10 road repair and maintenance projects in PP-30.

In PP-33, Rs40 million will be spent on 10 Local Government Department schemes.  In PP-38, six will be completed by the Highways Department and three by the Shahpur TMA. The meeting was attended by DO (Finance and Planning) Safina Siddiq and EDO (Works and Services) Zafar Iqbal Khokhar.
