With the onset of monsoon season, chances of dengue larva’s spread is posing a threat to people and their health. However, education departments, TMAs and other agencies are making all out efforts along with the federal government to prevent the virus from flourishing.

This was said by Rawalpindi Commissioner Imdadullah Bosal during a meeting held to review the anti-dengue spray campaign in Rawalpindi Division, said a press release on Monday.

The commissioner directed the DCOs to supervise the campaign themselves and take action against tyre shopkeepers keeping tyres in open areas. He also called for cleanliness and spraying in junkyards and requested Wasa officials to cover all manholes in the city.

“Public awareness and cleanliness are the most important preventive measures,” said the commissioner.

Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) held an awareness walk on the commissioner’s instructions. The walk, led by RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed, started from RAC and ended on Double Road. It was attended by students, teachers and other notables of the area. RAC has also set up a counter to distribute pamphlets among visitors. Moreover, a short documentary on dengue will also be shown before every programme at the council.
