The former captain, who left the Sri Lankan Premier League (SLPL) midway to join his ailing wife, left yesterday to join the team in Sharjah.
The three-match ODI series, which will be followed by the same number of Twenty20s, with the first game on August 28 in Sharjah. Afridi felt the team has a good chance of overcoming Australia.
“They are a world class side,” said Afridi. “But we have a good chance as we know the conditions better. All we need is to use our experience there to our advantage. We have a good Twenty20 side as well and if we play with sincerity we can win the series.”
The all-rounder said the players’ participation in SLPL will also prove to be helpful.
“It’s a different series but the participation kept the players in loop. We just need to gel as a team.” Commenting on his individual performance, Afridi said he has worked hard for the series.
“I’m aware that my performance is important and I’ll hopefully live up to expectations.”
The all-rounder, who holds the record of most sixes in ODI cricket and currently has 289 to his name, said he was desperate to complete the triple century. This is what I am aiming since a long time.”

Afridi and Sincerety ! Good joke. another duck today.
Afridi is not sincere even to himself. He plays only for spectators in the ground and his immature fans. Instead of planning strategy against Australia, 300th sixer is in his mind. Often to please few spectators and his under age immature fans, he throws away matches.
@mr. righty rightist: Whoever pays you to write these comments, must be paying you really well. You seem fully motivated to come to work everyday and leave multiple hate comments against Pakistan and Pakistanis on this website. I bet there are alot of other perks that you get while sipping on hate juice.
Guys -- with all the sectarianism/provincialism/regionalism already denting our country and countrymen I think cricket was the only thing where we were united as "Team Pakistan". Sad to see in the comments how we're still blaming Punjabis/Pathaans. For every blunder, we need to accept the blame as a nation and correct ourselves on an institutional level as a whole instead of blaming it on one group or the other.
Hope it makes sense.
Oh my god!
Does this mean no ball biting, pitch tampering, in-fighting, spot fixing, match fixing, drug abuse, partying, sledging?
look whose talking about sincerity , the biggest conspirator in this history of Pakistani cricket team.
And I guess by sincerity he means potential! Poor reporting I guess!
@Ch. Allah Daad: In your books Salman Butt was the most sincere player in the team!! Now don't get me started on your low level thought process.
@Ch. Allah Daad
Mr.Daaad the only sincere Group in the team when all Punjabi put our heads down in England were these bunch of few Pataans. Y every time you people try to pull something out of nothing.
I am a big Afridi fan but he needs to start showing sincerity in his batting before asking the team to be sincere.
I agree with afridi,if the players play with sencerity, pakistan can won the series
Go ahead Boom Boom, for sure u alone can do it .........
What does he mean by the word 'sincerity'?
Since so many years Pakistan Cricket is losing so many matches, there are many losses than wins Pakistan has tasted. As per Afridi this is what he said ""if we play with sincerity we can win the series.”"". This means all these years Pakistani cricketers were not sincere ?????????????? Give it a thought, it is serious as this is called unfaithful towards nation.
@Rameez: Its not a blue moon time. Wait please!
Sincerity and you?
we not " you " instead :P
Well said laala . Go on and rock the UAE. This time we require atleast a Hundred from you. May GOD be with Team Green
