Hafiz Mohammed Khalid Chishti, the imam of the mosque in the Islamabad suburb of Mehrabad, insisted he had saved the girl, Rimsha, from mob violence by handing her to police but said the incident arose because Muslims had not stopped local Christians' "anti-Islam activities" earlier.
Rimsha was arrested and remanded in custody for a fortnight last Thursday after being accused of burning pages from a children's religious instruction book, which were inscribed with verses from the Muslim holy text.
The youngster reportedly has Down's Syndrome and her treatment has prompted outrage from rights groups and concern from Western governments, but Chishti insisted she was fully aware of what she was doing.
"The girl who burnt the Holy Quran has no mental illness and is a normal girl," Chishti told AFP.
"She did it knowingly, this is a conspiracy and not a mistake. She confessed what she did."
Chishti claimed the local Christian community had previously caused antagonism by playing music in services at their makeshift church during Muslim prayer time and said burning the pages was deliberate.
"They committed this crime to insult us further. This happened because we did not stop their anti-Islam activities before," he said.
"Last Christmas, they played musical instruments and there was vulgarity in the streets during our prayers time. I warned them but they did not stop."
During his sermon at Friday prayers Chishti told worshippers it was "time for Muslims to wake up" and protect the Holy Quran.
Mehrabad is home to around 500 Christian families but many fled after the page-burning, fearing a repeat of a 2009 incident in Gojra, in which young Muslim radicals burned Christian houses, killing seven, after a rumour that a page from the Holy Quran had been desecrated during a wedding.
Chishti said that on the day of the incident he went to Rimsha's home after people showed him the papers she had burned, and he found an angry crowd outside and three or four Muslim women attacking her.
"Some women were beating her and other people were trying to break her arms when I rescued her," he said.
Chishti said the girl confessed to burning the pages and insisted he had averted major violence by handing her over to police.
"People were demanding to burn their house, but I went to police and called them to avoid a major incident," he said.
"I had the Gojra incident in my mind, when Muslims burnt the whole Christians' colony. I did not want to repeat that."
Police have registered a case against more than 150 people for damaging property during the protest after the incident but Chishti insisted nobody from the area was involved.
"I did not invite people to protest against the Christians. The people who protested against the incident were from some other area," he said.
"The cleric who announced on loud speaker was also from another mosque and he did it outside this village. We have no link to that."
Rimsha had been due to appear in court to answer charges on Saturday, but investigating police officer Zabihullah and Rimsha's lawyer Tahir Naveed Chaudhry said the hearing was now expected on August 31.

screw Imam. Long live freedom of speech.
@believer: and he added pages from the Holy Quran with the ashes as a evidence,,,,
words from a true believer cannot be underestimated. atleast he reads quran. we should respect him
We don't know what the girl's intent was. However, it is perfectly clear what this imam's intent is: he wants a human sacrifice.
i request ,all peoples ,to present a single prove from Holy Quran ,and life of Muhammad, Peace be upon him , life, that he punished ,non muslims for any such acts , which are called blasphemy now a days ... May Allah Almighty enlighten our understanding of Islam ... Did Hazrat Muhammad PBUH.... did not offer funeral prayers of Abdullah bin Abi salool ,the head of Munafeqeen and one of the top leaders , who used to humiliate our beloved Prophet PBUH..... so muslims ,should learn from the uswa hasna of Rasoolay kareem PBUH. not any one else .
A religious Muslim relative of mine in August 2009 accidently tore a calendar stuck to the wall in his factory which had Quranic script. His Manager who had some grudge against him went to the local mosque and had the Imam announce that the factory owner had committed a Gunnah e kabira. This incited the local villagers and about 500 of them attacked the factory and killed my relative. I am sure the Imam would blame him for conspiracy as well. We are such an hypocritical and intolerant society.
Conspiracy at 13 had the makings of a Einstein only thing the poor girl has Down’s Syndrome . The mullah probably never heard about such a disease shows the level of his education pity his students .
@Zahid Hussain:
I would agree completely - in fact under a proper shariah system most of these mullahs would be executed!
This molvi should be given a task to investigate and prove the 'conspiracy'. If he fails, he should be hanged according to Quranic law, because he created a 'fitna' in the nation and country. . Al Fitnato Ashshad o min al Qatal.
Well he is a "hafiz" so must be the smartest man in the world.
Imam should shut up and do noy lie in any manner otherwise he is not fit for Imam. This a case of ignorance and this is typical where people are uneducated especially in Pakistani villages. This girl is 100% innocent as she is insame. People should be afraid of Allah before they blame any person of any crime.Imam should preach the people not to lie, rob, price increase, lawlesness, vote for honest candidate and and do not kill any human beings.
which politian, alim, social worker, general is going to go to Merhabad be voice the voice of reason and sanity.
They will all wait till a masacre happens then they will condem this insane behavior
Majority of muslims think that they are the custodian of Quaran .Where as the fact is that Allah is the real custodian . That means they are directly interfering in the work of Allah under the shadow of a black law called blasphemy . law .
Realize the repurcussions of this black law and repeal it outrightly .
I note some of the comments defending the Blasphemy law with the plea that no one has been convicted under it. It may interest such apologists of this law to note that many of the accused have been killed by inmates, lynched or burnt by mobs, and some have been quietly allowed to flee to foreign countries to avoid certain death. Things have now come to a pass where criticizing the blasphemy law, a man made law, is itself being branded a blasphemy! Note the murders of Salman Taseer and Shahzbaz Bhatti, the ex-Minister of minorities.Their crime was to criticize the law. There is a strange irony in applying the blasphemy law to non-Muslims since by virtue of accepting their own faith, and not accepting Muhammad as the final prophet they are by definition being blasphemous. No wonder the great faqih, whom the majority of Pakistanis claim to be following, Imam Abu Hanifa, did not accept the law of blasphemy being applied to non-Muslims. That was around the 8th or 9th century AD. How we have progressed!
It is a conspiracy alright, but by the Muslims - they wanted these christians out of this township and now they will get rid of them, and usurp the properties of these christians.
Salaam Alaikum all. First-off, none can burn away the Quran Al Kareem. As such Quran Al Kareem is not just the stationary to burn it away. None can possibly burn the Quran as it is protected by Allah s.w.t Then why this hue and cry for Quran Al Kareem. What this mentally sick girl did was she burnt some Quran stationary and NOT Quran Al Kareem. As for the projection of the Quran - is Allah s.w.t not sufficient to do what he has promised us? Who on the earth has a right to reject the Authority of Allah s.w.t when he has said that he'd protect it? We muslims shall realise that what we are doing is NON-SENSE here. What we did when that USA priest burnt Quran stationay was a bigger Non-sense. We shall refrain from such activities and not to print such news. Realise that Quran Al Kareem is non-distructible word of God with us - The Muslims.
@Hamid Khan, Lahore: "Welcome to Islamic Justice! Or should we say welcome to Islamic Justice as practiced in PAK! So an 11-year old is going to destroy this almost 1,500 year religion practiced by millions of people around the globe. It is pathetic that the so-called laws permit such brutal actions by the mullahas and the law enforcement agencies" I do not know if the 11 year old girl can destroy 1500 year old religion or not but I do know that how Pakistani agencies deal with it might make or destroy Pakistan culturally.
If the followers of a faith demonstrated half the fervour in implementing the injunctions of the faith, instead of frothing at mouth on the hear- says communities will live in great peace.
Cleric has some kind of dispute with the family and he is trying to settle a score or putting pressure on the family to move away. What happened to teaching a kid or old fashioned scolding if something wrong happened by mistake. Some Moran even got her checked for mental health issues.
@Nadia T: The mother of all blashemies
@Salman: Why do you drag India here? How many Christians and Churches have been burnt in India? Please don't make irresponsible statements. I only went through the comments and did not want to make any comments on the news itself myself, which would be unwarranted.
the incident arose because Muslims had not stopped local Christians’ “anti-Islam activities” earlier.
Being Christian and going to Church is perhaps proof of their 'anti-Islam activities'.
@Joy Goswami: Finally the anti Pakistani sentiments made its way.. why don't you people leave us alone and take care of your country..which of course is a big mess.
It looks like there is no hope for Pakistan.
Sad situation, This is very bad....
It makes my heart cry to know that she is so young and is mentally chalanged. Downs syndrome are severely mentally retarded. I know since my brother has down syndrome. How could they arrest her. I cannot even imagine how scared she would be. God has his mercy.
Mullahs are Lairs ........ who saw that grl burning Holy Quran ? she's only 11 years old grl .... -Allah says He has revealed the Quran and He will protect it (15:9) u know sumthng i saw in karachi there is a place near bahadurabad a lot of shaheed quran majeed pages were in black shopping beg & no one notice that ... wow we are doing good. in Goe news Documentary they show us the begs of shaheed quran majeed pages were found at Sea View Beach. tell me who's doing this blasphemy ? they or us ?
"Hafiz Mohammed Khalid Chishti, the Imam, insisted he had saved the girl, Rimsha, from mob violence by handing her to police....." Mob of Muslims is sounds like a group of beasts, who have no control over their brains rather local mullah controls it.
@Love Truth and Humanity: Bless you for choosing the words.
"Ashes is a big proof." We need to appreciate of the skills of the "IMAM." "Mr. Blasphemy Law of Pakistan" where would you place the other Imams of the world and more particularly 'India' who happen to be equally equipped in Islamic studies and never get opportunities like this in other Muslim countries. [I pity the Imams of other Muslim countries.]
@Anthony: You peoples interpretted the God's script.(Multiple versions) Whatever we have is so precious, more than our life. If somebody is accused in blasphemy and burning the holy script Quran, we feel they are burning us, really it's very much painful. Apprecited to IMAM for this task.
We are not believing Hafiz . Who know Quran by heart is liar here.No wonder Pakistan in dire straits . We should punish culprit .
@1984 "..Maybe Pakistan can start distributing Amazon Kindle with Quran ebook pre-installed to every Pakistani citizen so that they will not have any cases of Quran burning in the future.."
What if the Amazon Kindle dies and the kindle is tossed in the garbage with electronic copy of the holy Quran? That would be Blasphemy 2.0, the next version!
A question for all the right wing parties of Pakistan and for the people who follow what these parties preach; “Why don’t you charge Taliban and Al-Qaeda with blasphemy against the Quran when they attack mosques and shrines through suicide bombers". These attacks not only have taken hundreds of lives but they also result in fire and destruction. Did anyone ever charge them with blasphemy against the Quran? I would call it blasphemy against Allah, the Quran and the prophet altogether. They are not only burning the Quran through these attacks but they are committing un-Islamic, horrific and henious crimes all on the name of Allah and the prophet. Does anyone of them have enough courage to say this?
Guys llet me tell you an interesting story: An instructor of mine once asked me if anyone in Pakistan could be awarded a death sentence for breaking a traffic signal. All were unanimous in their refusal. When asked why so, a few replied it was too harsh a punishment for a crime so petty, others decried it as counter-intuitive. Wrong logic behind a correct answer! One could not be awarded a death sentence here because the written law/ penal code advises fine, or imprisonment for such cases and not capital punishment! Death sentence would have been rewarded had the law said so... no matter how much illogical it may seem. Existing laws hold. You could ask for their removal/ rectification but not demand that trials not to be held under them while they exist. End of story! Lesson: If there was evidence that the girl burnt the book, the case needs to be reported to concerned authorities for investigation under the blasphemy Law, whose existence in the penal code should be undisputed. Chishty saw what he thaught was a crime and reported it for investigation rather than taking law in his own hands. And what we have seen of Pakistani mobs lately, admit it the good guy chishty saved the girl's life! I appreciate him for the sense he has shown all along.. every one should.
the religion of peace is sadly highjacked by barbarians
Why not prosecute the mob attackers for, oh, lets go with Assault, Battery, Attempted Battery, Child Abuse, Disturbing the Peace etc... It is possible to interview witnesses to bring up charges on the people who actually committed a crime. And since this mullah is such a good citizen, then I'm sure he'll have no problem coordinating with the police to help bring justice to the violent criminals.
just another day in the land of pure. jinnah would be so proud
Next thing we know the Government may be nominating the Maulana for the Nobel Prize for Peace... Perhaps the President can declare him Pakistan's International Ambassador at Large to promote Inter-faith Harmony... :)
The insanity prevailing our country becomes worse each passing day...
Everyone, please don your conspiracy tin-foil hats.
Music is an integral part of Christian worship and I hope many muslims know about it. It is the most absurd argument I have ever heard "Local Christian community had previously caused antagonism by PLAYING MUSIC in services at their makeshift church during Muslim prayer time."..............Keep it up Pakistan. You are very soon going to take over Saudi Arabia in terms of intolerance towards other religious beliefs and their way of worship.
any eye witness??
First it was the Sikhs and Hindus in Partition. Now the Christians and Shias are being targeted. Next we shall become failed state with random massacres and bombings.
@ salman.. I am an Indian christian..and you have no idea how aggressive the church is in India in its spread of the message of the catholic/protestant way of life. The religious freedom that Muslims enjoy in India has to be seen to be beleived. This is credit to the founding fathers of India who insisted on secularism as the bedrock of India's constitutional democracy. Yes, there are aberrations ie 1984 sikh riots, 1992 Babri Masjid demolition and 2002 Gujarat riots and a few isolated incidents against Christians. But don't hype on these to constantly run down India and feel good about the murderous behaviour of the Pakistani state towards its religious minorities. The secular Indian state and its laws constitutionally protects its minorities, whereas the Islamic Republic of Pakistani uses its constitution and its laws to discriminate, marginalise & brutalise its religious minorities.
The girl may or may not be mentally unsound - although a Christian observer's statement or this moulvi's statement are certainly not ground for making that determination. But the facts are she is abrely 11 years old. Secondly other versions of this story have clearly stated that it was not Quran that she burnt. But the grammar book that explains correct pronunciation of Quran. This is why they keep referring to destroying Quranic verses rather than Quran. Of and where did she find this book? From a publich garbage area where she was playing. So the question arises is she the one responsible for blasphemy - if at ll- or the one that threw the book in trash. Secondly, he threw the grammar book in trash. The fact that the grammar boo was teaching pronunciation for Quran - does that make the act of throwing away the grammar book blasphemy?
It seems that Imam himself is being suffer with Down Syndrom. What kind of conspiracy 14yrs old girls can do against barbaric people of this land of pure? This uneducated mullahs brought Pakistan to this pity state.
For the Press and Media : Like the Mullah you want more juice out of such incidents; be more responsible (you are part of the educated breed of Pakistanis). Please stop supporting news from such Mullahs and Molvis. Because that is what they want! to create support for their own Masjid!
@Siddiqui " And the girl was old enough to know what she was doing. It is well known that girls mature earlier than boys and 11 years is old enough to be quite mature. Remember that Hazrat Ayesha married to the Prophet (pbuh) at 7 years old, and was a wise person even then. "
I dont know about the girl, but you Sir, seem much older than her and do not even have the an ounce of maturity and humanity. I hope the same thing happens with your daughter someday, and I also you hope that its you who have to take the decision to kill her, or pardon her.
This mullah is quoted as saying: The girl who burnt the Holy Quran has no mental illness and is a normal girl,” Chishti told AFP. “She did it knowingly, this is a conspiracy and not a mistake. She confessed what she did.”
As a woman with a growing child, I feel terrified to see the face of this so-called imam and his handling of a eleven-year naive girl (suffering from Downs syndrome) who has been traumatized by mullahs and their mobs and is now kept in "protective custody" of the police. Wake up cave dwellers! Your minorities are your biggest assets in an otherwise mentally deranged and religiously extremist nation that sheds crocodile tears over minorities in Burma but conveniently turns its back on the rot within the house. Your stone-age thinking is dragging your nation into a quicksand of violence, fanaticism and destruction. I am angry. We are all angry in the civilized world. Let the child go free. Stop persecuting the Christian, Hindu and other minorities.
expecting any sane thing from these zombies is a failed task.whats happening in Pakistan today numbs the sensitivities.now the almighty god is in danger, courtesy a teenage, mentally unsound girl.it happens, quiet often when man becomes the spokesperson of god.
@Salman: Had it been a hindu mob in India, they would had burnt the girl alive like their churches . I don't think so buddy, I live there. . You have no idea how it is like to be in India. I am a full Indian citizen and don't care two hoots for Hindus, Muslims or anyone else. My citizenship does not depend on my religion. . Just to give you an idea, I renounced my US green card when I moved back to India.
@love truth and humanity , when you say "protecting the blasphemer from people who whose feelings had been deeply hurt." you justify people who are breaking a 11 year old girl's arms for mentally ill girl . I guess if you are strictly following Islam ,then you havent learnt anything about Love or truth and least of all humanity ..
I think the word "Conspiracy" was well used in stone age..
@Kulamarva Balakrishna: To prove Blasphemy, you just need a Muslim to say he saw something. According to earlier reports, this Moulavi along with 175 people went to get the girl from police station so that they could burn the girl at the spot where this incidence happened. Terrorizing is a good way to do forced conversions.
Don't blame the Imam. He was just there trying to help and enforce Islamic principles. And the girl was old enough to know what she was doing. It is well known that girls mature earlier than boys and 11 years is old enough to be quite mature. Remember that Hazrat Ayesha married to the Prophet (pbuh) at 7 years old, and was a wise person even then.
All of these type of cases, one basic thing I always wondered about. How the hell they find out, that anyone is burning Quranic papers within the boundary of their own houses? Bearing in mind they know about this law, will be utterly insane if they do that intential infront of a visiting Muslim!
@Love Truth and Humanity: Imam is posing innocence in light of counter FIR
@Zeeshan Sheikh: Who teaches the hatered to less religious. Who think music in church is anti Islamic who think celebration of Christmas is vulgarity. Veena Malik zindabad
It is we perform salah behind some of the hypocrate imams, but these Ulmas Soo often tell lies so how can we believe that the imam of the mosque in the Islamabad suburb of Mehrabad is telling truth. This type of Imam have no proper knowledge of Islam themselves and start issuing fatwah like muftis. They just try to convince uneducated community that they have monoply on Islam. They can tell lies or mislead the people, they will get respect among ignorants.
@Blithe: I fully agree, it was Bhutto who started it thinking it will prolong his ruling status but it shortened his life.
Playing music in church is anti Islamic activity. Celebration by Christian is vulgarity on Christmas. Vena Malik also agree with maulvi sahib.
strong textWelcome to Islamic Justice!
Or should we say welcome to Islamic Justice as practiced in PAK! So an 11-year old is going to destroy this almost 1,500 year religion practiced by millions of people around the globe.
It is pathetic that the so-called laws permit such brutal actions by the mullahas and the law enforcement agencies.
@Salman " Had it been a hindu mob in India, they would had burnt the girl alive like their churches "
LOL. And people like you are one of the reasons why this poor girl is being condemned to death. You must be so proud. A simple denial solves everything, for you, doesnt it ? Ignorance can be fun as well.
The Imam was there. None of you was. Eleven years is not the age of an ignorant or dumb. Contrast this to the situation where Hazrat Ayesha was getting to take the responsibility for great matters. In these situations, The Imam deserves congratulations for protecting the blasphemer from people who whose feelings had been deeply hurt.
Now its proved. The less religious people were violent while the religious Imam (leader) is more tolerant and followed the law and tried to control the situation. Good work by Imam
@feroze
I think you don’t live in Pakistan. Have you heard of the poor mentally unsound man in Bahawalpur who was burnt alive by a mob? People used to call him malang which means they knew he was mentally unsound; but people weren’t bothered by that
Maybe Pakistan can start distributing Amazon Kindle with Quran ebook pre-installed to every Pakistani citizen so that they will not have any cases of Quran burning in the future
“She did it knowingly, this is a conspiracy and not a mistake. She confessed what she did,” he said.
Yeah,conspiracy,conspiracy!!!
A religion which is followed by one-fourth of the world's population would be shattered if a 11 yr old girl burns the holy book...
So lets break the girl's hand and burn her house to restore the faith of 2 billion muslims around the world...
Lets show the world that muslims are peace loving people
The only "conspiracy" here is one to murder the child ---- and Conspiracy to Murder is what the police should charge everyone who harmed or attempted to harm the child. If Pakistan had any true leaders they would have put a stop to this debacle right up front --- they should have taken the child from the local authorities - given her proper medical attention - accomplished a quick review and released her. Now it's been dragged through the mud for days with no end in sight. Shame on Pakistan.
@Richard: Correction: since Bhutto came into power. It was Bhutto who started this intolerance .
Everything in Pakistan is a conspiracy
this is islam what this brave cleric has done appreciate him and don't blame mullah blamed those who miss using islam for their personal interest, as the case may go in court let them decide, not we if she guilty must be punished if not will be free whey blaming islam and its laws.this is unfair, already west blaming islam as in past communism.
Throw all mullahs of all ranks, whether bearded or beardless, in jail for a year and see the country prosper.
He claims to be a hero for saving her life and then calls her a conspiracist - so that what those illiterate and cruel villagers couldn't do could be done to her on a much massive scale while the rest of the world watches. Pakistanis deserve every bad thing coming to it. Even though I was born there, I take immense pride in disowning it as my country. It's not just the politicians who are rotten, it's the people themselves who are the worst villains this world has seen.
Had it been a hindu mob in India, they would had burnt the girl alive like their churches
Burning any kind of holy book is condemnable but at the same time we have to keep in mind that every religion has it own solid base and not so brittle that by simply desecrating it in any manner the whole structure will come down like the pyramid of cards.
It is shame on all of us collectively. Illiteracy has taken us to these depths. My heart goes out to poor Rishma. Her biggest crime is to be poo and non Muslim in Pakistan. Alas we silenced the brave voices of Benazir Bhutto and Salman Taseer and so many others. CJ Iftikhar Ch please look into this affair if you have time and courage.
Pakistani mullahs unfortunately do not have an ounce of good in them
The Cleric needs credit for his services and acknowledgment which Tribune has already showered on him by making a Headline. The problem lies in the wrong interpretation of Blasphemy , its wrongful implementation and the fact that people take things in their own hands and become saviors of Islam (even the worst of them). For me this is the real blasphemy. Till to date no one in Pakistan has been punished for wrongfully using blasphemy acts whether they burn houses/villages, kill humans in numbers, destroy their property and business, rape, forceful marriages, persecutions. For this article, so called MUSLIM women trying to break arm of the girl (innocent or guilty) this act makes them a better Muslim? Allah SubhantAllah chairs the authority of his rule and laws. Allah SubhanatAllah Insanoon ka Mohtaj nahin hay Apni authority sabit karne kay liyay so let’s be reasonable Humans irrespective of our religious orientation.
I dont understand one thing, how burning a GITA or Quran or any holy scripture is blasphemy ? Has Mohammand said it is bad ? Does allah or Ram says so ? I am not trying to intend pun here.. You guys are much more learned to clarify these things. What about when a holy scripture catches bugs due to its age and somebody throws it into a garbage bin and after that the local muncipality guy comes and put fire into it ? I have seen that happening. Curb these Madrasa educated illiterate thugs and change the law. Otherwise Pakistan is going to repent.
These so called muslims of Pakistan are just going totally against the teaching of our beloved Prophet and the religion of Islam
Now the Imam should disclose who were those women trying to break the arms of the girl so that they can be charged with murder attempt to kill the girl
What conspiracy could a 11 year old possibly be involved in? Shame on all the Muslims wanting to kill a 11 year old when the teachings of Islam clearly state otherwise, that is to have mercy. Is this Islam?? what service are you doing to Islam by wanting to kill a child?? This is giving Islam a bad name, yes this is a conspiracy but BY the MUSLIMS OF PAKISTAN against Islam.
Christians all over the world have deep negative view of muslims and islam and a fire is burning in everyone hearts and be prepared when no aid is given in the next flood relief call for pakistan.
@Faraz saved her life so that she can be awarded the death penalty at the age of 11and sit on death row for 20 years!! Wow. What are u smoking? If these Mullahs stop praching hate and violence and stop declaring Shias/Christians/Huindus /Ahmedis etc non muslims and heretics we would be a tolerant law abiding nation on the road to prosperity for all and not on downward spiral to lala land!!
“Some women were beating her and other people were trying to break her arms when I rescued her,”
Breaking arm of 11 year old girl? May God show the extremist the right path of tolerance!
a girl aged between 11 to 16 and that too from a low income area would not be literate enough to know the difference between right and wrong.
Vienna,August 24,2012 What is the evidence ? Ashes ? Ashes of Qu´ran ? Can the complainants prove it? The complainants are many and conspirators.Accusation is no proof nor the words make evidence. Conspiracy with whom? A single girl conspiracy? If the report is accurate is the Chistie Imam is sane? Taravadu Taranga Trust for Media Monitoring TTTMM India --Kulamarva Balakrishna
They were trying to break her arms!!! I think the mullah actually saved her life
nice work at molvi
“She did it knowingly, this is a conspiracy and not a mistake" said cleric Hafiz Khalid Chishti, who handed over Rimsha to Police to save her life. He should be asked for such a statement, how can people who live under the fear of Blasphemy Law do such a thing on purpose, with a possibility of being caught. As he say girl is mentally stable, his statement about her willfully committing such action is sufficient proof of her "Mental Instability". It is appreciable that he saved her life but, instigating latter on calling it willful action is equal of using a bait to target large purpose.
conspiracy by an 11-year old?
Good imam? Very strange.
Perhaps the maulana should ask the child's mother what she feeds her. 11 and running this grand a conspiracy?! The momineen sure could use such intelligent suicide bombers.
How sad is it that we pathetic humans do what even the prophet (PBUH) didnt do ie award the death penalty for an act like this whether intentional or not. The Prophet (PBUH) use to be abused physically and verbally yet not once did he take those to task. On the contrary he worked on them to see the light of day by teaching them the ways of the Quran.
Who are we to condemn someone to death for such an act?
We have reached the bottom of the pile of civilised countries and are on our way to becoming uncouth pathetic fools who deserve to be consigned to the jungle.
Please dont print such news..you are endangering that kids life!
“conspiracy and not a mistake” = What "conspiracy"???? Overuse of the word has left it meaningless.
