Watery graves: Three picnickers die in separate incidents

RAWALPINDI:

A teenager was killed while taking a ride on a water slide in Play Land near Ayub Park on Thursday.

Ubaidur Rehman, a sixth grader, had gone to Play Land with his friends. While coming down the water slide, he lost his balance and ended up hitting his head on the bottom of the pool. He died on the spot.

Rescue 1122 shifted the body to District Headquarters Hospital where doctors handed it over to the heirs. Ubaid was a resident of Dhoke Chaudrian in the Cantonment area.

In a separate incident, two youths drowned in Korang Nullah, while taking a dip near Rawat. Zeeshan, 22 and Waqas, 19, were both residents of Bharwalian, Rawat.

Rescue 1122 divers reached the spot and fished out the bodies after an hour and a half. Later, relatives and rescuers informed Rawat Police Station but officials said the incident did not occur in their jurisdiction. The Sihala police gave the same answer due to which legal formalities could not be completed.
