Unfriendly fire: Stray shell injures 10 in Khyber

Mortar shell fired from an unknown location landed on a house in the Shalobar area.

BARA: At least 10 people of a family were injured when a mortar shell fired from an unknown location landed on a house in the Shalobar area of Bara Subdivision Khyber Agency on Wednesday. An official of the paramilitary troops who was on duty in the area said that security forces were pounding militant hideouts in Shalobar, when a stray mortar shell hit a house of a tribesman identified as Juma Khan in which 10 members of his family, including himself, son Momin, wife and granddaughters were injured,” the official said. He added that three more shells were fired which hit the houses of Ibrahim, Shoaib Khan and Javaid and destroyed their houses, “Most of the people have fled the area due to the operation against militants that’s why no human loss was reported,” the official explained.
