Man was arrested over firing gunshots in the air on the eve of Eid.
KARACHI:
A Malir district and sessions court released a man arrested over firing gunshots in the air on the eve of Eid. Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Ashfaque Mughal acquitted Malik Ayaz who was arrested by the Ibrahim Haideri police. The police registered a case (213/12) under Section 13-D (possessing illegal weapon) against Ayaz despite the man showing his gun licence at the police station, Ayaz’s lawyer Muhammad Akhtar Jamal told the court. He appealed to the court to release his client under Section 173 of the Criminal Procedure Code as he could not be charged with the crime with a legal weapon. Ordering an inquiry of the gun licence, the court put off the hearing until September 5.
