Pakistan players donate half of Oval win bonus

Pakistan's cricketers donate half of the bonus received for winning their Test match against England to flood victims.

LAHORE: Pakistan's cricketers Tuesday donated to their flood-hit countrymen half of the $55,722 bonus they received for winning their Test match against England at the weekend.

The bonus was awarded by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the team's narrow, four-wicket win at the Oval on Saturday.

"The PCB chairman has announced a winning bonus and all the players... and officials have donated half of the bonus in flood-relief funds," the PCB said in a statement.

The latest donation is in addition to one of 137,590 dollars announced last week on behalf of PCB officials, staff and national team players.

Pakistan's one-day captain Shahid Afridi and country's international umpire Aleem Dar have also run separate campaigns for flood relief, raising millions of rupees.

After New Zealand Cricket Board' s reservations of Pakistan Cricket team's tour, the ECB has also asked Pakistan not to tour England next year, the tour was initially confirmed earlier. One needs to recall that ECB suggested that all Pakistan's home tour matches be played in England due to war on terror. The spot fixing's repercussions have started surfacing, and time is not far when all the cricket playing nations will stop touring / inviting Pakistan Cricket team. Therefore, all the guilty players should be given exemplary punishment. Besides the PCB should be dissolved.
