Blockage of mobile phone services was of benefit: Rehman Malik
Mobile phones have become the biggest weapon of terrorists in Pakistan, says Malik.
ISLAMABAD:
Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that the blockade of mobile phone services in different areas of Pakistan on Eid-ul-Fitr was of benefit, reported Express News on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media after visiting Police Line, Islamabad, Malik said that mobile phones have become the biggest weapon of terrorists in the country, and the blockade of prepaid services is being reviewed.
Malik added that the government had successfully blocked around 10 million illegal SIMs, but almost 50% of SIMs were registered on fake identity cards.
The minister further vowed that the system of SIM card issuance would be strengthened, and added that no SIM will be issued till the specifics of the subscriber are verified.
He added that the terror threat in the country has not gone away completely, but the system has strengthened itself.
Kamra attack
Commenting on the Kamra base attack, Malik said that investigations into the attack are underway, and the process of identification has begun.
He said that wherever there is a terrorist attack, the people who speak ‘our language’ are involved.
