False case: Police inspector suspended

He is accused of falsely implicating a man in a car theft case.

LAHORE: Chaudhry Muhammad Shafiq, the DIG (Investigations) on Saturday suspended an Anti Vehicle Lifting Staff Inspector Ghulam Abbas, allegedly for falsely implicating a man in a car theft case. He was also issued a show cause notice. According to a press release, Inspector Abbas had arrested one Ejaz, a resident of Sialkot, for stealing a car in Chung police station precinct and sent him to judicial lock-up. A relative of the suspect, Shahid Mehmood, had then approached the DIG and alleged that Abbas had arrested Ejaz at the behest of Ejaz’s rivals.
