Dual murder: Man loses two wives to enmity

KARACHI: After going missing on Wednesday night, the wives of Ghulam Fareed turned up dead the next day in front of Al-Asif Square Apartments in Sohrab Goth. The two women, 25-year-old Mumtaz and 28-year-old Naseem, disappeared from the Sohrab Goth market where they went to shop for Eid. According to DSP Ifthikar Lodhi, their husband came to the police station on Thursday morning and was taken to the Edhi morgue where he identified the two bodies. Lodhi said that they were both shot dead but the bodies had no marks of torture or physical assault. “The initial investigation suggests that this is a case of personal enmity.”Fareed, who hails from a village in Bahawalpur, told the police that he has many enemies back home but did not nominate anyone in the FIR. “We have registered a case against unknown criminals for now but Fareed said that he will nominate a suspect later on,” said the DSP. The bodies were dumped sometime early in the morning in middle of the road on the greenbelt. “It is strange that the bodies were dumped in an area like Sohrab Goth without alerting anyone but then again, people tend to mind their own business these days and the area was surrounded by garbage and sand.”
