KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy’s second fast-attack craft named PNS Dehshat, was launched on Thursday during a ceremony at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW).

PNS Dehshat is the second ship of its kind and was constructed at KS&EW in collaboration with China State Shipbuilding, Offshore International Company and Xingang Shipyard under the Transfer of Technology arrangement.

The first ship PNS Azmat was inducted in the PN Fleet in June 2012.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Asif Sandila, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, lauded the defence cooperation between China and Pakistan and said that the construction of the missile craft at Karachi Shipyard was another example of “unparalleled” Sino-Pak relations.

Admiral Sandila added that addition of these crafts to the PN Fleet with further strengthen the offensive capability of the Pakistan Navy.

Made in China and Painted in Pakistan. It’s good only for coast guard and fishing activity. By the way, does it use water as fuel, to sail on water?

@Vikas: It will be used to arrest Indian spies posing as fishermen who can’t get their directions right and end up in Pakistani waters all the time somehow. Enjoy :)

Dehshat is Urdu for “Terror”, isn’t it? Given Pakistan’s notoriety and that our military has widely and frequently been accused of supporting Terrorists, was this a good idea for naming a naval vessel?

You dont look at the name you only look at what kind of weaponry it can harbor. I know it has the capacity to take C802 which is the Pak/Chinese version of Harpoon missile apart from the original Harpoon missile. If someone knows about this missile he might be well aware that this deadly weapon is a force to be reckon with maximum precision having anti-shipping capability.
