If I had anything to do with the investigations, I would certainly look into the matter of the death of the terrorist caught alive, because you see, just like Mehran, I suspect that this was an inside job too.
There is a report also that says all the attackers were foreigners while others say only one was. Be which as it may this only proves the point that there is a collection of terrorists from across the Muslim world congregated in Fata and comfortably embedded with said ‘assets’.
Now then, after all of the attacks this country has suffered at the Taliban’s hands: Kamra; POFs; Sakesar; GHQ; Hamza Camp; ISI buses; Parade Lane; ISI HQs in Lahore and Faisalabad; Moon Market; Marriott; Lahore Cantonment; Mehran airbase; Lt Gen Mushtaq’s brutal murder in Rawalpindi; Peshawar Meena Bazaar and many others, this is still not our fight; not OUR war? Till when will we live in denial, friends, till when will we call these murdering brutes our ‘assets’?
Are things changing though? Is there a fresh breeze blowing? There might well be, considering General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani’s speech at the PMA, in Kakul. First, kudos to him for clearly stating that Pakistan needed to crush the terrorists without exception. And more for saying all of us are at fault for bringing the country to its present pass. He particularly named the armed forces, read army. He also said, to his credit, that no single institution had all the answers.
Whilst one would have hoped that he had also said that the major blame lay on the faulty strategic thinking of our army brass, e.g., strategic depth in Afghanistan and mollycoddling terrorists of all stripes in the hope that they would help this country face its perceived enemies, I would like to build upon what he did say.
Well, general, this is good and well as our regimental mate Brigadier Ashraf Afridi used to say, now let’s all of us put our shoulders to the wheel and try and get our country out of the morass it is in. For starters, please order the immediate closing down of the media cell in the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) — ISPR is more than equal to the task — and then open a civilised dialogue with lay Pakistanis on the way forward.
And please, please become less India-centric. I can assure you that if it dares to attack our country every Pakistani will stand by you.
And now for contempt. The majesty of the Supreme Court that comes to the fore every time a prime minister is ordered to appear before it is truly awe-inspiring. Indeed, the alacrity with which PMs have presented themselves (under notice of contempt) before the Court: Nawaz Sharif twice; Yousaf Raza Gilani thrice; Raja Pervaiz Ashraf (the Lord only how many times he will appear), convinces one like nothing else that the superior judiciary in our country is truly superior.
Indeed, this judiciary hanged an elected PM, committing judicial murder, no less. Indeed, whilst Nawaz Sharif escaped punishment while he was PM, he was given a life sentence after the Commando’s coup. And Yousaf Raza Gilani was kicked out of his elected office even though he was chief executive of the country. If this isn’t majesty and superiority all rolled into one, what is?
Which is why, it grates upon one’s sensibilities when uniformed servants of the state either refuse to appear at all, or if they condescend to (as in the one appearance of the DG Frontier Corps, Balochistan), appear in civvies. Perish the thought that any general will be summoned like ordinary PMs.
What brought the subject to mind was the re-appearance of the case of the Adiala Eleven, now reduced to Seven, four of them being tortured/starved to death and their bodies strewn hither and thither. If I recall, the last time we heard about these unfortunates was some months ago when the Mother of All Agencies was forced to produce them in the Supreme Court, and the Court handed them over to the K-P government for safe custody.
This is part of the latest report of the matter in a section of our press: “The Supreme Court sought the record from the intelligence agency’s counsel regarding the seven prisoners of Adiala Jail, allegedly abducted by the intelligence agencies. Appearing on notice, Raja Muhammad Irshad, counsel for the intelligence agencies, told the court that the seven prisoners had been arrested for attacking Hamza Camp of the ISI. He said the cases could not be lodged under the Army Act against former prisoners in the Adiala Jail due to the lack (sic) of evidence.
“The chief justice reminded the learned counsel that the report prepared by the Punjab chief secretary was with the court according to which 11 missing persons were picked up by intelligence agencies from outside the Adiala Jail.
“Raja Muhammad Irshad told the court that they had presented their written reply on the issue. The chief justice commented that it was a serious matter and had progressed beyond just statements.”
Now then, according to the lawyer of the ‘Agencies’, the ISI and the MI, there were only seven people who were ‘arrested’. He has conveniently forgotten that there is every evidence, including a report from the Punjab government (as stated by the CJ himself) that 11 prisoners were taken away by the ISI and the MI from Adiala Jail after they were released by the Lahore High Court, both agencies admitting that they had joint custody of them.
Is this not contempt of the worst kind, to lie before the court in the face of the court? Why does the Court not summon a general or two so that this cruel charade is ended?
I have to end with this link and request the Chief Justice to watch the clip himself from 4:04 to 4:20, just 16 seconds. In it Shiekh Rashid ‘Tulli’ is calling on the CJ to commit murder. Suo motu, any of you, My Lords?

'Are things changing though--------' Shafi Sahib, the credit of the said change in military ideology goes to your good-self as well, since you have been taking on the deep state head long for so many years right from your Dawn days and till now with ET, giving some chosen sermons to them. The military has surely been enlightened with your persistent efforts and is on the right track to achieve its objective.
The war began in 1987/88 when Zia's poisonous seeds started bearing fruits, The killings of Shias started then, 14 years before 9/11, Afghanistan or iraq wars. This has continues un-interrupted ever since. The Hadis says that horns of shaitan will emerge in Najd. We are seeing the followers of this Najdi sect kill the followers of the Prophet (and his Ahl Al Bait).

"Please answer one question for all of us about 9/11 so we can see your mindset. WHO flew those planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on 9/11?"
Sorry, I read your comment too late (just now). I am not here to impose my thoughts on you guys but to help you find the truth which I myself is always looking for. Please watch all the four documentaries I have mentioned in my earlier comments (just click the provided links). I am sure you will find this and many other answers to your questions.
@BruteForce:
"While the conspiracy theory was peddled by half-baked scientists and Islamists, who would believe anything as long as Muslims are not blamed for anything(an uncanny but not surprising similarity with 26/11, where even there it was suggested to be an inside job), this report was given by actual experts in Mechanics in National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)."
Instead of rejecting the arguments and facts presented in the documentaries (which I mentioned in my previous comment) with counter arguments and facts, simply discrediting them on the basis of someone's supposed religious beliefs, or discarding other experts' opinion by branding them half-baked scientists just because you need to negate their opinion in order to prove your view point is certainly not very scientific either. If you think that those documentaries are produced by some Islamist, which is certainly not true, and the reports created by 9/11 commission and NIST are authentic, then I suggest you to watch these two videos which you would know for sure that these guys are not Muslims. Watch the arguments of Prof. David Ray Griiffin challenging both the reports of 9/11 commission as well as of the NIST based on verifiable facts.

Come on, Take it easy... I See people writing according to their intellects, but nothing satisfactory came up to front line. Its All part of higher politics. Its still not our war, we can win it by avoiding it...
very sad. sir in reality, this is a conspiracy against our strong defence not our war.
Kamran as always never fails: a lot of puff. Kudos to Express Tribune for providing he space!!
@Lala Gee: Please answer one question for all of us about 9/11 so we can see your mindset.
WHO flew those planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on 9/11?
Maestro
I am appalled that you take the word of your Indian 'friends' who say they don't want to destroy Pakistan or want to see a progressive prosperous Pakistan. Did you ever ask then why their super friendly India continues to do all it can to undermine Pakistan? Why no issue is ever settled no matter how right Pakistan's cause be? Why at every turn, despite Pakistan's best efforts, Pakistan is abused, blamed, censured at every forum? Why they do nothing but associate Pakistan with medievalism, terrorism and fanaticism when it is THEIR society that continues to be caste-ridden, worships animals as Gods, and suffers from dozens of major religious riots against hapless minorities every year? Why Pakistan's water supply - the very life of ordinary people who have no stake in any politics - is threatened by this generous neighbor? And all this is in ADDITION to Kashmir - a word to which your friendly Indians are allergic except when oppressing Kashmiris, and in ADDITION to all the territories that India has swallowed.

While the conspiracy theory was peddled by half-baked scientists and Islamists, who would believe anything as long as Muslims are not blamed for anything(an uncanny but not surprising similarity with 26/11, where even there it was suggested to be an inside job), this report was given by actual experts in Mechanics in National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
There was a similar report released by some other scientists, but this will do for now.
So, the theory went 9//11 was fake, rebutted. 26/11 was fake, Abu Jindal being caught with Pakistani passports in Saudi and David Headley busted that myth. 7/7 is too easy to prove since the Terrorists had the forethought of recording a video. All 3 major Terror attacks of the last decade had an unmistakable pattern. I'll leave it to you to figure out what that might be.
The statement of the agencies' counsel' in the court about the number of persons in custody, only remind me of Falstaff's boast about the number of rogues he had brought down with his sword (he had hacked it with his dagger for make-believe) in Shakespeare's Henry IV Part I. "PRINCE HENRY
Pray God you have not murdered some of them.
FALSTAFF
Nay, that's past praying for: I have peppered two of them; two I am sure I have paid, two rogues in buckram suits. I tell thee what, Hal, if I tell thee a lie, spit in my face, call me horse. Thou knowest my old ward; here I lay and thus I bore my point. Four rogues in buckram let drive at me--
PRINCE HENRY
What, four? thou saidst but two even now.
FALSTAFF
Four, Hal; I told thee four."

Just think about it again and you will understand who actually need professional help. Certainly it is not the author.
@Asma: Madam'Thank you for recomending "Word Web" It was free and has opened a new world for me. My aim is to learn at least 5 new words every day. Thank you.
@Hassan: mummy daddy tommies sitting in AC rooms calling it thats it is not our war come and see at KPK and FATA and what these barbaric Talibs did with us they destroyed whole of our society this is our war our war and will be our war because we are suffering in KPK and FATA and not you
@Abdul Haque: Thank you for the correction Sir.
@Author:
"So then, our ‘assets’ have attacked the extremely high security installation"
I haven't read past this sentence yet, but this is so insulting and untrue that I am compelled to write this comment. These terrorists are certainly not our 'assets', nor of any patriotic Pakistani or Pak Army. You know that but keep insulting the Pakistani nation with your own concocted lies. It is your hatred towards your past institution, the reasons not made public by you, that you keep twisting facts that are nothing more than blatant lies. You immediately need to seek professional help from a good psychiatrist for your own good.
@Rajendra Kalkhande:
We (Indians and Pakistanis) togather will make ways, I hope it happens in our lifetime :)
@Yuri --- haha! Awesome reply to MSS! Cant stop laughing.
Simply ''Ban'' all political/religious parties who support these acts on one pretext or the other both openly or silently.
My dear Sir, once you were also part of it and so was I. As long mind set does not change nothign will change. What ever anlaysis you may present you will get a deaf hearing from military brass. My comerades also basketed top positions and few are still serving. Every one still think the same way, any one in Khaki is untouchable and a scred cow. So no hope and no light at the end of the tunnel at least for near future.
@MSS:
I am a mechanical engineer and I never came across "Alacrity of materials". The property (or technical word) you describe is elasticity. Technically, cause of deformation is called stress rather than pressure even though the units are same. BTW, any chance you are the guy who invented the water car kit?
The usual drivel from Kamran Shafi.
Dear Mr. Shafi
The war against extremism, militancy, intolerance, yes that is our war. The Global War on Terror is NOT. It is important to understand the difference because the former is a result of the latter. To successfully fight the former we have to exit the global war on terror. Once that is accomplished any minute justification these barbarians have of recruiting people vanishes. Then it becomes a battle of Islamic and general education, economic opportunity, social rebuilding and yes if all else fails a legitimate military operation that is 100% Pakistani, in it's design, intent and desired results.
@author::Your article started with 'our war' then you wavered and turned your guns towards politicians,S.Rashid's speech etc, and ended the essay with the mention, rather I would say criticism of judiciary. You being an ex major please explain what do you mean by the term 'WAR',so that a layman like me can decide whether the WAR is ours and how,or is this some phenomenon hurting our minds and souls without our knowing what this actually is
Mr Kamran, what about the politicians who support and indoctrinate these terrorists in their Madrassas? Politicians like Fazul ur Rehman; who runs majority of the madrassas in KP and FATA and is part of this Zardari government. So instead of just simply blaming ISI and the army, which is in fashion these days, also mention guys like the mualana whose 100s of madrassas are the actual breeding ground of these terrorists not so mention a total breakdown of the government at large, thanks to democracy!
@Asok: Drone strike is not aimed at TTP. It is against those who attack US forces.
@Imran Con: 'Pakistan is the first country in history to not translate an attack on their bases as a declaration of war'. This cannot be done since TTP rented it for four hours.
@3rdRockfromtheSun: India has no desire or intention to destabilize Pakistan for sure. WE have enough of our own problems to tackle. Today Indians are unanimous in the belief that Partition was a good thing. The only issue open is the Muslims who have yet to leave India and go over to the country they chose to found, Pakistan. We could handover the entire Kashmir then. That would be the end of open issues since the time of Partition and we could live happily ever after.
Inspite of drumming up by many Indians, it just does not appeal to Pakistanis not to be India haters, hindu haters and war mongering against India. What have u achieved by this attitude and by the way things are going,. you are going to achieve much less in future. If a strategy does not yield results, it is better to change the strategy than eat grass.
@Imran Con:
That's because Pakistan is the most peaceful and non-violent nation. Either that or it's too incompetent and lazy.
What is the meaning of term war? War is fought in many fronts. War by military is a last resort. Psychological/ideological warfare and addressing the root cause of war is the first resort. As long as Pakistan does not address its bludgeoning population explosion disproportionate to its available resources there will be instability by extremists. There is no military or political solution to this if this problem is not addressed. Massive diversion of the developmental funds to military industrial complex will not ensure victory in any war. Every society has seed of extremism in its midst. It germinates when there is proper conditions of extreme poverty and lack of confidence in state institutions .
@soothla: 'Dawn'? This is the Express-Tribune, my friend. Left Dawn a year ago ...
@DM Mr Cocksure . . . have you even wondered about the inquiry report on 9/11 by the so called 9/11 Commission? Please read about it and enlighten this audience as to why it still hasn’t delivered any facts over a decade later.
Have you read the report and what are the "facts" you are talking about, Oh! you mean the facts that your mullah told you about Jews doing the 9/11 or that Kasab is a hindu because he wore orange strings on his hand??
By the way where is the Benazir Bhutto assasination report? or for that matter Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report. Its been several decades now.
And who do you imagine gave the go ahead for the Kamra airbase attack? Who stands to benefit the most?
Your mullah benefits the most who keeps feeding you conspiracy theories
@DM: You want me to "read about" the report. Why would I read about it when it is available in its orginal form and all 585 pages of it. This is not like Humood Rehman Commission Report that never got officially released by Pakistan or Abbottabad Commission that was coming out last December. Not only that this 9/11 Commission Report is composed by both party members and not just the ruling party. I don't know why you wanted me to read as if it were a secret document and not released by the govt several years ago. Regards, Mirza

@MSS: "Alacrity is a technical word. It is the inherent property of a material for example a bamboo stick to regain its shape after it has been subjected to pressures to bend."
Which engineering field uses that terminology? Any quick reference? I have not seen it used in any viscoelasticity models before.
@Abbas: Can't say this any better.
For those who say,'this is not our war' I accept their logic as 'this not their war'.But same way they have to accept it as 'it is our (pakistan) war'.Sorry!
@Ijaz Mir: Finally someone hits the nail right on the head - our biggest enemy is these saudi funded wahabis who by multiple reports fund all these madrassahs and jahil, illiterate mullahs about "islam" to brainwash young kids who are sent to these seminaries by poor families to be looked after - they instead turn into suicide bombs. When will this nation wake up to this real ideological threat to its entire national fabric or whatever is left of it. India couldn't be less bothered about trying to destroy Pakistan - I have many indian friends who are adamant that they want to see a stable and prosperous, progressive Pakistan. It is in their interest JUST like a stable, prosperous Afghanistan on our western border is in our interest. Why does this take rocket science to figure out?? Get rid of the funding from the saudis, UAE for these madrassahs, invest in education (apart from just religious studies please and that too uneducated thesis on its true meaning) then we might have a start to getting out of this mess. Give a jahil mullah an inch, he will happily take 10,000 miles. And thats where every successive Pak gov't's folly has been since independence. Stop trying to appease the mullahs and grow some you know whats!
Pakistan is the first country in history to not translate an attack on their bases as a declaration of war. They even raise the bar further by not translating repeated attacks on their bases as a declaration of war. The people responding with "it's not our war" in regard to those things are suicidal fools with possible brain damage. As if both sides have to get together, shake hands and say "ok, we both agree to be at war" for them to actually be at war. It only takes one side believing they're at war for the other side to officially be at war no matter how much they want to ignore it. It's even just making it easier for them to kill you as well. I'd bet anything they literally laugh every single time the louder variation of the fools, such as Imran Khan, say it. It probably passes for a form of actual entertainment they get together and joke about. They've probably even run out of ideas for things to do to make it anymore obvious than they already have. The density of many Pakistanis is what legends are made of.
@Mirza: Mr Cocksure . . . have you even wondered about the inquiry report on 9/11 by the so called 9/11 Commission? Please read about it and enlighten this audience as to why it still hasn't delivered any facts over a decade later. . And who do you imagine gave the go ahead for the Kamra airbase attack? Who stands to benefit the most?
@Ijaz Mir: you are absolutely right - there has been an undeclared civil war in Pakistan for some time. The problem is that the terrorist mindset is in the majority and growing, while the secular liberals are a shrinking minority, as each new generation is brainwashed by the wahabi philosophy imported and spread with Saudi money. The nationalist media and military short-sightedly have supported this extemist religious indoctrination for their own purposes, but now Frankenstein's monsters - millions of them - are off the table and coming for everyone's throats.
Dear kamran shafi its needless to remind that contempt applies at civilians only. When it comes to application of article6 the "our lords" send the matter to parliament, Pm ashraf should heed the advice of former pm gilani for not appearing in the court as as a voter and citizen of pakistan i feel myself disgraced that my elected pm is not respomsible to me rather to unelected one's!!!
@soothla: I loved your comment (I too checked the meaning of the word alacrity!) ! For your interest, there is a wonderful software program called "WordWeb" which can be downloaded at NO cost and allows you to check the meaning of words as you read. Give it a go!
the aurthor really had flight of ideas. Jumping from one topic to another.
@ZardariDunIt: "we are addicted to it..the problem is we hate America and India more than we love our fellow Pakistanis, so what if Pakistanis die?"
For quite some time I have been trying to understand the root cause of this hate. In my view the origin of Islam vs rest of the world hypothesis can be traced to Indian subcontinent. Its here that the Islam collided with almost all the religions of the world. First it was with Hindus and then with Europeans. Third battle of Panipat can truly be called a religious war in which Muslims of north India sided with Abdali on a religious call. To best of my knowledge, religion was never used to rally the people like that earlier. In my view the religious polarization of Indian sub-continent started during that period and then continued. It accelerated once again in 1857 when Deoband seminary was established. During the same time few Indian Islamic scholars moved over to Saudi Arabia and started Islamic seminaries there. Loss of Islamic rule in India was used as a anti Hindu and anti Christian tool to polarize Muslims. Division of India and Kashmir disputes are all outcome of the same process. Is there anyway out of this hate cycle?
@MSS: Sir, Thank you for correcting me regarding the name of the news paper.Yes, it is Tribune. Also thank you for more explaination about the word Alacrity.
Pakistan is in a deep civil war. Pakistan's liberals against Fanatics supported by the Wahhabi's of Saudis. Petrol dollar is behind them. But Pakistani government is not admitting ..Stupid politicians are trying to support the fanatics, for political gains. Pakistan army is 5Th biggest army of the world, In sixty five years encountered three wars plus Musharraf's stupid Kargil adventure.,but never achieved a goal..ya Allah save Pakistan from these fanatics and dirty politicians.
I have to disagree with the author. The war would be extremely bad for our economy. Consider. If war starts all the major, colonels, generals and other officer class will have to get involved in the war activity 24/7. If the officers are minding their war duties 24/7, who will run DHAs, Fertilizers factory, Cement plants, NLC, even cereals factory, the much needed nutrition for our young ones. Not to mention PIA, Defense ministry, PR and other sectors important for our ailing economy. Sir, I hope my arguments has convinced you that going after our brotherly assets will be extremely bad for our economy.
Let us hope better sense prevails with those who are entrusted with making decisions.
never expected this low rated and confused article by kamran shafi.
Here is the situation: A war imposed on Pakistan is now imposing costs on Pakistan. Does it become Pakistan's war? Would it not be better to get out of the war that began it all than to persist in it by making it Pakistan's war now?
Soothia, Alacrity is a technical word. It is the inherent property of a material for example a bamboo stick to regain its shape after it has been subjected to pressures to bend. Shaving sahib have used it well. I learnt the word promptitude from you now. By the way the newspaper is the Tribune not Dawn. I also like the list by Abbas.
Such attacks allow for us to go on a blame America and India rampage..we are addicted to it..the problem is we hate America and India more than we love our fellow Pakistanis, so what if Pakistanis die? Gives us another opportunity to make excuses for the TTPs actions and point blame at America and India and play the victim.
Ok this is our war, but for winning the war, please look back and see, whom we are allied with...
@omer: It's nice to hear your views. I agree with what you say. Does your prescription also extend to the terrorists doing nothing against Pakistan but engaging in terrorist acts against other countries in the region and beyond? A lot of people will be looking forward to your answer to understand how the common man thinks about what's happening in the region.
This article is a classic example of what's wrong with the so-called intellectual class in Pakistan today. Rambling on about everything you think is wrong about the Pakistani state structure (talking about the ISI's media cell for instance) instead of presenting a coherent argument about why the author thinks this is not our war is extremely childish.
The author has spoken the truth. It is our war and we must win it now.
No, it's NOT our war. It was NEVER and will NEVER ever be.
Here's an instance where I''l ignore your prose style and agree with the content.
This war must be fought with the full capability and capacity of the state. Withdraw your soldiers, tanks and artillery pieces from the eastern border and march them towards FATA. Take no prisoners. Kill the last Taliban and destroy forever their seminaries, burn down their homes and lay their crops to waste. Let the women and children starve. Take a page from the civil war in Sri Lanka and solve this problem for good.
Shia's killed, hazara's Killed, Ahemi's killed, Christian killed, hindu's killed, Sunni's killed, Student's killed, child's killed, civilian's killed, armed forces killed, mother's killed, daughter's killed, father's killed, son's killed...Bombs in mosque's, Imam bargh's, bazar's, streets, markets, schools, death funeral, 12th Rabi-Awal Mehfil-e-Milad and the list goes on and i hear only one sentence " This is not our war".
Sir, I liked your use of the word "Alacrity" I checked the meaning in the Dictionary which says it means "A cheerful readiness, willingness, or promptitude; joyous activity; briskness; sprightliness; " By looking up just one word, I in the process learn a few more'words, eg.I now know that promptitude means willingness. Keep it up Dawn. Keep well and safe Kamran Shafi, Sir.
General Kayani's emphasis on "this is our war" only reveals that the number of doubters is significant. And then there are active sympathisers who help the jihadis to reach their targets. To top it all, there are the religious parties, PML-N and PTI challenging the notion that it is our war. You can fight terrorism but how do you fight extremism which is a state of mind. It appears that this state of mind is fairly widespread. We are facing a tough challenge which requires a multifaceted response. War is one facet, though it may be the most important right now. But other facets should not be downplayed because the long term solution will come by having a greater consensus.
It is yet another wake up call for Pakistan. General sahib has gotten up but PML-N and PTI etc. still on the snooze. Are they waiting for a louder call?
Frankly speaking I've had enough of the so called political correctness mantra sung by our enlightened columnst and analyst. Often I read in the electronic print and hear in the talk shows Oh we must give the poor sod the justice and conviction must be based on evidence. Yes evidence it must and it should be presented in all crimes but here I'll exclude the sad lots who commit barbaric crimes like blowing people to bits in the name of idealogy. What should we do to these barbaric lot when they are caught red handed. Tell me Mr. K. Shafi what sort of evidence should be presented in the court to prove the crime they commit.Your group with due respect will say Video camera evidence. Hands on heart do we have financial capacity to provide the security forces with such facilities. So please let the army boys do their job, at times they may cross the boundary like the FC rangers did in Karachi killing the street crime lad but I don't think the army lads would do anything on purpose unless they are provoked to do. So my advice is be practical and stop harrassing the security forces and putting them on the mat everytime people dissappear. I would rather advice you to give the security forces some useful REALISTIC tips which are doable.
Take my words. Nothing will change even now. Nothing will change until and unless they get the objectives of their strategic assets fulfilled. The objective of these strategic assets is just one , to deliver them Kashmir. Unfortunately if the things continue like this they will loose sympathy of even Kahsmiri's. The people of Kashmir will rather want to be an independent country than being a part of mess called Pakistan. However Kashmir is not going to join Pakistan with the help of these strategic assets. Rather make your country strong and developed , at least provide good life to people who are proud part of Pakistan including Shia's. Forget India because India won't attack you. It knows very well a disintegrated Pakistan is the biggest threat to the development of India.
I think time is fast running out before it becomes too late to salvage Pakistan as a nation. Especially when this is still considered by most as "not their war"! The TTP aren't going to stop once the Americans leave - in fact they will be emboldened by the American departure, and then give Pakistan it's full attention! There is no difference between Taliban on the Afg side or the Pak side - they want the same thing : to impose their view and customs on all! You have already got a taste of it in Afg in the 90s and recently in Swat - now imagine if that were to be replicated all across your country.
How much more damage must the TTP/LeT and other sundry groups cause before it becomes "your" war? The rot is setting from within yet the problem is percieved to be an external one.
And I am sure most Indians will agree, they have no interest in occupying Pak territory. They are far too busy trying to grow their economy. But all bets will be off, if there is another Mumbai style attack. The only solution is to convert the LoC to an international border, they have their part of Kashmir, you have yours and China has theirs.
serves you guys right
And please, please become less India-centric. I can assure you that if it dares to attack our country every Pakistani will stand by you.
THAT IS TRULY THE GREATEST LINE.....ever....educate your citizens, and then they will become the most loyal and patriotic ones......humiliate them, and they would humiliate THE NATION.
Kamran Shafi
The Mehsud brothers have never been assets of Pakistan. Their TTP was was created by Al Qaeda to attack the Pakistan army after the lal masjid storming. Kamran sahib, when the facts don't support the theory logic dictates that we discard the theory, not the facts.
" And please, please become less India-centric. I can assure you that if it dares to attack our country every Pakistani will stand by you. "
Oh please, we dont need to. Guess why ??
for a writer with exeptional writing skills, this seems to be a job half done by you. were you in a hurry or what ? and what has ISI media cell to do with the attack on kamra air base ? for its part, ISI had done its job by giving warning about the attack. isnt this what ISI is supposd to do ? and still you left no corner to discredit them. and about you harping about "adiala eleven" well my dear Kamran do you honestly think that courts would punish the culprits ? they wont. not because they do not want to but because of lack of evidance. who would come forward to give testimoney against these barbaric talibunnies ? so what is the option left ? simple, the one exercised by the ISI. ELIMINATE THEM!!!!
