ISLAMABAD: The executive board of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday authorised an inquiry against the Capital Development Authority (CDA) regarding an LED street lights project. The CDA had advertised for the said project in January 2010 in a bid to replace conventional street lights with LED lights. On May 29, 2012, NAB advised the authority to scrap the LED project.  The bureau asked CDA to prepare a new proposal after consulting reputed consultants, adding that newer and cheaper options were available in the market. The anti-corruption authority also threatened punitive action under the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.
