KARACHI:

Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq is writing a book on what he describes as the judiciary’s “biased” role against Pakistan’s democratic institutions.

Haq’s first ever book titled “From Justice Muneer to Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry” is set out to be published in the next two months, said Zafar Ahmed Lahbar, the department’s spokesperson. “My book would disclose the concealed facts of the judicial history of this country,” Haq said on Wednesday. Haq’s book contains details of cases involving several political personalities such as Molvi Tameezuddin, Asma Jilani, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari, etc. The purpose is to highlight and disclose the court’s decisions that paved the way for attacks on democracy in the name of justice. Haq believes that military dictators have weakened the foundations of the country and hindered its progress. He added that democracy provides the best model for good governance. The education department’s spokesperson told The Express Tribune that Haq had worked as a journalist at Ibrat, a Sindhi daily.
