ISLAMABAD:

The city police on Wednesday arrested a gang of three women who were allegedly involved in looting people after hitchhiking with them.

Fida Hussain lodged a complaint with the Ramna police that three women asked him for a lift at G-11 Markaz and offered him a drink which he consumed on their insistence after initial hesitation.

He told the police that he fell unconscious within a few minutes of taking the first sip. When he regained consciousness, his car was parked a few metres away from the markaz and his cell phone and Rs100,000 in cash were missing.

“He recalled that the soft drink’s taste was unusually different but it was too late by then,” said a investigation officer.

Fortunately, the stolen phone helped the police trace the suspects, as one of the women kept using it with another SIM card. The phone led the police to Tahira Bibi, who then led them to Nasira Bibi and Shazia Bibi.

The suspects were sent on a two-day physical remand by a court.

In a separate incident, local villagers rescued a family in Bani Gala from getting mugged and nabbed two outlaws.

Police said Mukhtar Hussain and Shamsur Rehman were rounded up by villagers after they snatched cash and cell phones from Leharsaab Khan and his family on gunpoint. Their third accomplice managed to escape, while the two were handed over to the police.
